Hello,

if your remote control is completely dead, first, you need to check the batteries and test the remote with another TV, likewise test your TV with another remote control.

Some times, the fault might not be from the remote control, the fault might be from the TV remote sensor. This happens a lot of time where remote looks dead, but the TV sensor might be the one that is dead.

So confirm if the remote is actually dead before you thing of getting another one. But if it happens that the remote is truly dead, then you need to get another remote control because, remote are hardly repaired.

You can open the remote battery area, check if the metal there is not rust, it its rust, then maybe the batteries are not contacting as a result of the rust. Get a flat screw driver and use it to scratch the rust off. Again, open the remote control and make sure the battery terminals are well fitted on the remote board.

If the remote connections seems right, then you have to get another remote control.

Good luck.

Wharfedale dvdr24hd169f stays in standby no displays wont accept commands

The problem is in the power supply board, often caused by a defective capacitor that becomes open, cap value is usually around 1000uf and sometimes shows a bulge at top leaking contents, if you are handy with a soldering iron replace part with identical value and voltage rating and observe the polarity.

Panasonic dvd video recorder dmr-e85h is dead

I had same problem. I replaced two bad capacitors on the power supply card. See http://vassfamily.net/projects/DMRE85H/dmre85h.html The capacitors I replaced were C1260 and C1261 slightly different from the one on "vassfamily.net". Everything works now for me...

Good luck.

Also for those interested, I found the "commands" listed on http://www.dxcc.com/dmr-e85h.htm useful when operating the DMR-e85h to correct problems.

Net Command Does not work

Go to net command menu click on the AVR Learn icon.
Now you can program 4 different functions (inputs) from another remote. I programed 4 different source settings from my A/V receiver. And you label each input appropiately. Such as DVD, SAT, CAB, ANT.....

Now go back to net command and just to the right of previous Learn Icon you input the name of the source you just programmed for which ever device it is currently watching.

Net command is very confusing but works great once you figure it out. Hope this helps.
