Question about Fisher and Paykel GWL11 Top Load Washer

2 Answers

I own a GWL11 top load washer. Yesterday it would not advance from the final rinse to the spin cycle. I stopped and reran from the final rinse location several times when the power light went out. I checked outlet, good, Pump spins freely. Motor with red blade looks a bit rusty. Tried to call for service. No help for weeks. Help! Thank you, Randy

Had water leakage underneath for a couple days. Then would not drain and had steady beep every second. Tried setting to final spin. Would pump water for a few seconds then shut off. Now will not power up. Outlet good and power getting to power box inside control panel. This morning woke up to several gallons of water on the floor but the remaining inch or two in the washer had not changed. We are thinking it is the pump and controller and would like to know how to repair.

The water pump is indeed leaking then shorted out leading to the damage of the motor controller module as manifested by the failure of the machine to turn on. It would be a costly fix since you have to replace both for the machine to work again.

Lay the washer on its back on protective material but ensure that the washer is slightly raised at the top to prevent residual water in the tub from spilling out. Remove the base panel by easing the tabs, located at each corner, with long nosed pliers, then pry the panel off using a flat bladed screwdriver. Remove the drain hose from the pump then unscrew the pump from the bottom of the tub and remove it. Reinstall the new pump into position and reconnect the drain hose.

Remove the 2 screws from the rear of the console then raise the console for access to the Motor Controller Module. Remove the screw securing the Motor Controller Module to the cover and lift the Motor Controller Module up at the pressure sensor end and ease away from the inlet chamber. A small quantity of water will discharge from the Inlet Chamber and heat-sink. Dry off the water then install the new Motor Controller Module. Secure the console back into position and you are good to go.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Please check the lid switch is fine. Check the connector voltage which should be 110V. Also check that nothing is jamming the motor to hinder it to rotate. Please apply some grease on the rusted part. If still the issue persists, then it means that the pressure switch or timer has gone bad. Replace whichever is required. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Machine will not spin or drain water.

I have a problem with my MW512AU. Sometimes it drains after wash cycle, but sometimes it sticks when it goes to spin, doesn't get up to speed, water comes on for about 10 seconds and shuts off, and it tries to spin again. If I hit the wash progress switch it goes directly to final spin and works ok. I then have to run a 2nd wash cycle to rinse the clothes. I also noticed a buzzing sound when I turn on the power point, which lasts about 3 seconds before stopping. It will come back on every 3-4 minutes for 30 seconds. This is with the machine power switch off. It powers on normally.

Washer will not do final rinse or spin

Before the final rinse and/or spin can start the pump has to kick in. Tilt the machine back on an angle, on the right-hand side (closes to the front) is the pump motor. there will be 2 sets of wires, one green (earth), the other (brown and white), make sure they have not become loose.
I had exactly the same problem, I just unplugged the brown and white with needle nose pliers and squeeze the end (don't break it) & plugged it back in.
DISCONNECT FROM POWER before doing any of the above, good luck.

70 series Kenmore washer

POWERUP, YOUR WASHER COULD BE THE LID SWITCH OR THE COLD WATER VALVE. AT THE END OF THE WASH CYCLE, THE MOTOR WILL SPIN OUT THE WATER, BUT ONLY IF THE LID SWITCH IS ACTUATED. IF THE SWITCH IS BAD, IT WILL NOT SPIN OUT THE WATER AND THE TIMER WILL NOT ADVANCE FROM THAT POINT.
IF THE WASHER SPINS, THE NEXT STEP IS TO FILL WITH WATER FOR THE RINSE CYCLE. MOST WASHERS USE COLD WATER FOR RINSES. IF THE COLD WATER VALVE IS RESTRICTED OR FAULTY, THE WASHER WON'T FILL. IF THE WASHER WON'T FILL, THE WATER LEVEL SWITCH WON'T ACTIVATE AND THE TIMER WON'T ADVANCE TO THE NEXT STEP.
