Problem with Eathquake amp 2000w

I am currently running 2 15'in cvr kickers off of a 2000 w earthquake amp, the amp has an auto function to turn off when i am guessing over heated or something. To override the amp's security shut off, you have to restart the battery. Which I did my turning my truck off and on again. I now understand that it was turning off to protect it self. I may have fried the internal battery on the amp. It refuses to power the subs anymore, the power light to the amp is on. Its running through a 1.5 farad compacitor. Does anyone have any input of suggestions on how i would go about trouble-shooting, or even just getting it to work again.? thanks

My kicker 12 inch cvr's arent hitting as hard as they should

amps and wiring kits are very optimistic on the output. If you want proper wire, buy some welding cable "0" or "00" guage. That solves the power delivery. Put a 1 Farrad (or more) capacitor near the amp, that solves the surge power issue. Make sure the box is suitable for the subs. Lastly I'd say do some research and find the right amp that can deliver the clean, huge current required to move some serious air!

Amp gets hot and shuts down

Time for a bigger amp or better wiring to the amp. You can try a cooling fan setup to cool the amp. Brushless computer fans work pretty good, draw very little current and move quite a bit of air and they're really cheap to buy.

2 kicker cvr 12's in prewired kicker box with 1 wire terminal, kicker cx1200.1 amp. Whats the best way to wire this combo?

Well you really can't run both speakers on one term. because you will over heat the amp , unless your amp is rated at twice the capability of your subs , Then if so , Try positive to one sub , then neg. to the other sub , then bridge the remaining positive to the remaining negative terminal , But it is really best to get a two channel amp for your subs !!!

So you check the remote wire to make sure there is 0.5amps running through it, right? Check the fuses of the amp? Checked your ground? Hope this helps

Can i run 4 dual 2 ohm cvr 12's on a kicker 1500.1 mono block amp

Yes you can if you run them each as 4ohms. Running them at 1ohms will most likely overload the amp.

I have two Kicker dvc cvr's 12's and I want to hook them up to a Kenwood KAC-520 1000 watt amp. Whats the best wiring to wire these?

The best thing to do would be to get an amp installation kit, at an auto stereo store or Wal-Mart automotive department. It will have the wiring and connects that you'll need to wire everything up.

Use the above site for several wiring schematics on dual voice coil speaker hookups. It will show how to wire for different impedance.
Also, I think the CVR 12's come in 2 ohm and 4 ohm impedance. See if you can check yours to determine which you have....

How do you wire 4 kicker cvr dual voice coil 4ohms to a 1500.1 kicker mono block 1 channel amp, they sound distorted when i turn them up, how should i wire them?

Hello antjobe,

According to Kicker the 1500.1 is only stable to 2ohms. So you will want your 4 CVR's to present a 2ohm or higher impedance to the amp.

The best configuration would be to wire the voice coils in series (each sub 8ohms) and then parallel all of the subs to the amp (2ohms). Here's a link to the diagram.

Hope this helps.
