Communication error I want to upload pictures but screen on camera says "communication error"

  • kakima Jul 05, 2010

Have you considered NOT connecting the camera to the computer?

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive.

Use a card reader instead of the camera.

SOURCE: communication error when uploading pictures on computer

I had the same problem. My problem was that there were more than 1,000 images stored on the memory card. Once I deleted some of the images from the camera memory card, I was able to download pictures again.

SOURCE: Communication Error when uploading photos

You may have switched USB mode to Pictbridge by mistake.
Press Menu/OK, select Setup, choose USB mode (on 3rd page) switch from Pictbridge to DSC, press OK.

SOURCE: i keep getting a communication

There are a couple of things you should try, remove the memory card from the camera and try connecting, if you get no error then chances are your memory card is corrupted.
If you still get an error then start looking at the cable you are using, try another if you can get one, cables are easily damaged.
You should also try checking the camera settings for USB connection and make sure it is set to Mass storage

Why does my Canon G12 Communication has an error message when uploading to my mac

Probably your memory card is full, you should erase some pictures from the camera and it will work. It happened to my Canon G9 . I erased some old pictures from my memory card and the message Communication Error disappeared.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to transfer pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa.
