Usually a watch batter will work. A CR2032 will work. You can find them at a watch store.

Need to replace the cmos battery

Hello that`s easy.

Open the case, and look for a small round shinny battery.

Press the release button, and the battery will pop out.
If not, use a small screwdriver, but don`t use force:
Here is a picture, how it looks like:

2_5_2013_2_09_56_am.jpg

The battery type is a CR 2032, 3 volts watch type.
Insert the new battery the same way.

When you remove the battery, the cmos/ bios will be cleared, and the bios needs to be setup: clock, date, boot settings, etc.

A pc repair shop, can help you with renewing the battery.

Good luck

How to Open a Laptop Battery & Replace the Lithium Ion

Laptop batteries, like all rechargeable battery packs, lose their charging capacity over time. Because new Laptop batteries are expensive, replacing the individual cells inside the battery casing can save a lot of money. However, rebuilding a battery sometimes does not work as expected, so it’s important to be willing to purchase a new laptop battery if the procedure fails.

HP Pavilion DV1100 Battery 12 cells
1、Allow the laptop battery to run down completely. Turn off your laptop, then remove the battery. Write down the model number located on your battery to help identify the type of Li-ion replacement cells you need to purchase.
2、Split open a small section of the laptop battery pack (at the seam) with a screwdriver or craft knife. Continue to pry the plastic case loose moving around the outer edge until the entire top is free. This may take a bit of force.
3、Note the number of cells inside the case (usually four to eight). Write down the part number and voltage information printed on the cell casings. Draw a diagram showing the arrangement of the cells and how they are connected, or take a few photos to help with reassembly.
4、Purchase the correct number and type replacement batteries from online shop such as udtek.com, based on your battery model and cell specifications. Six Li-ion cells typically cost around $30 to $40.
5、Carefully remove each cell using a craft knife and wire cutters as necessary. Each battery pack is different, but the cells are usually wrapped in a plastic casing with metal contacts attached to one end. Lay the metal contacts, wires and casing material aside.
6、Use double-sided tape or a solder gun (only if necessary) to attach the metal contacts to the cells and circuit board. When finished, the old cells should be completely stripped (naked) and the new cells should look like the old ones as much as possible.
7、Place the new cells inside the case, referring to your diagram or photos if necessary. Glue the battery(Compaq DV6000 Battery) pack top back on. Charge the new battery for at least 24 hours before using it.
Tips & Warnings
Keep an eye on the new battery while it charges for the first time. If the contacts are not connected properly, the battery could overheat and cause damage to the laptop.

I have a Hp wireless multimedia keyboard and mouse. My computer crashed. mouse keyboard are not working ctrl, alt, delete does nothing. I had to manually shut it down and lose what I was working on. When I...

no computer , nor OS stated. OS= operating system.
no mouse model number either, but is some wireless mouse and battery dead. sure.
why not plug in a wired USB mouse, and use that,
that ALWAYS works , and has NO BATTERY.
keep one handy at all times just like this, battery dies
use it, and save you files first. no reason at all to lose data.ever.
there are hot keys too that will save the fails, and exit.
learn them at MS dot com, or ask but if KBD is dead
then use a wired USB keyboard and or mouse.

I'm betting the battery is long gone dead. as ALL DO.

is this some old XP PC? running XP Os.
good luck if that is the case, (its a virus magnet, and may be why the mouse dont work)

How to change mainboard battery?

Most PC users don't think much about the CMOS battery until their computer shows signs of losing its BIOS settings on boot up. If you tend to upgrade rather than replace your PC, replacing the CMOS battery every couple of years makes sense.
Likewise, if you purchase a used PC, battery replacement is a good idea unless the PC is less than two years old. It's just one more preventive step you can take to prevent troubles in the future.
If you have never replaced a CMOS battery before, you can find step-by-step instructions below.
In most cases, frequent CMOS errors are a sign of a dead battery. The CMOS battery maintains your settings while your PC is powered off. You can easily replace the battery yourself.

Instructions:
  1. Boot your PC and enter its setup mode.
  2. Write down all of the settings from the various BIOS menus. Click this link to learn more about this procedure.
  3. Power off your PC.
  4. Open the case of your computer

  5. Locate the battery on the motherboard.

cmosreplace_5.jpg Figure 5. Typical CMOS battery. The most common type of batteries used in modern PCs is coin-shaped lithium/manganese-dioxide battery that looks like a large watch battery.
  6. Obtain a replacement battery from a local or online computer parts dealer.
  7. Remove the old battery.
cmosreplace_6.jpg Figure 6. Removing the old battery.
  8. Replace it with the new one, as shown on the picture below.
cmosreplace_7.jpg Figure 7. Replacing the battery.
  9. Document the date of replacement for future reference.
  10. Replace the case and power on the PC.
  11. Enter the setup mode of your PC.
  12. Reenter the settings you have written down from the various setup menus.
Tips:
  1. Don't forget to observe proper anti-static precautions when working inside the case of your PC.
  2. If you can't see your battery right away, try removing expansion cards or unplugging cables. The majority of newer motherboards use lithium batteries that look like large watch batteries.
If the battery is already dead and you receive messages saying "CMOS checksum error", skip Step 1 and Step 2.

I dont have the driver software

You would need to give at least the following details, for anybody to be able to help:-
What is the hardware (manufacturer, hardware model number, type of hardware) What operating system your computer is using (Windows XP, VISTA, Linux etc.)

for example,
I need the driver for an SiS 661FX onboard video card, to run in Windows XP with Service Pack 2 installed.
SiS = hardware chipset manufacturer 661FX = model of the actual hardware (100% essential that this is the exact model number) Onboard = some types of hardware are built-in to a PC (onboard), and others are separate parts. Video Card = the type of hardware, usually video, sound, USB, printer etc. Windows XP = the operating system the driver is matched to. Service Pack 2 = the main system update last installed (essential on most operating systems)

If you have just reinstalled an operating system, and most likely just need 'all' of the drivers for your computer, then it's much easier to let somebody here know what computer you have - this will either be a model number on the case itself, or inside its case, there will be a model number written on the mainboard inside.
The location can vary but usually looks a bit like this example:

I'm thinking you need a new CMOS battery.
The battery number should be a 2032. It's on your motherboard and is a little smaller than a US quarter

Lose memory

I do not know for your particular model. There are a dozens of these models in each of the manufacture type receivers. Not all of these receivers use a battery for backup.

If your reciever uses a battery for backup:
In most of these recievers the backup battery is located behind the front bezzle on the front control circuit board. On others it would be on the main circuit board. The battery looks like a small silver coin. Depending on the model, it can be a diameter of about 3/8 of an inch up to over 1/2 of an inch. In many cases the battery is a special type that has solder lugs spot welded to it. The battery would be available from the manufacture's parts and service rep for your area. You will need experience in soldering, and have de-soldering and soldering tools to change the battery in most of these receivers. The cost of the battery is usually in the area of about $6 to $10 depending on the type and rating.

If the reciever's memory uses a gold leaf capacitor:
In many models, they are using a gold leaf storage capacitor instead of a battery. The value of the capacitor is usually in the range of about 4.7 F to 5.5 F rated at 5V to 6V depending on the type. This capacitor is usually not a stock item from most generic electronics parts suppliers. The original should be available from the manufacture's service and parts rep. It is possible to order a generic type from most electronic parts suppliers. You must specify the electrical ratings for it, or an equivelent generic part number. You will need experience in soldering, and have de-soldering and soldering tools to change this capacitor. The cost of this capacitor can be in the area of about $8 to $20 depending on the type and rating.

If your receiver uses an EEPROM for its memory:
Many of these receivers use an EEPROM for the user set-up and memory settings. The EEPROM may be intergrated with the main uPC in many of the models. If this is the case and service is required, this will require proper troubleshooting to determine if the fault is actually the EEPROM section or some other support component. The EEPROM section in these receivers is usually not a socket-ed type IC device. It is usually soldered to the circuit board and it would most likely be a high density surface mount type device. In this case specialized SMD type soldering tools and the proper skills will be required to change this component. To perform this level of service, the factory service manuals, experience and training will be required.

The uPC/EEPROM would have to be purchased as an original part from the manufacture. It will contain internal firmware that is dedicated to the model of the receiver. Many times, they may recommend to change the complete circuit board rather than the IC itself.

After changing the uPC in many models of receivers, as like TV sets, there will be the factory level programing that is necessary to make the receiver work to specs. This will require the factory service manuals, training, and the proper calibration and setup instrumentation to do the task.
