NO ONBOARD VIDEO

Hello here is the ASUS homepage:

Here is a list of beep codes:

http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm

Your pci-e graphic card is failing or has a defect.
The problem could also be the power supply, not giveing enough power.
When you add a pci-e graphic card on the mainboard, the onboard graphic should deactivate itselves.
Try to remove the pci-e graphic card, and use the onboard graphic.
If still no picture, change the power supply.
Its not possible to change settings in the bios blindfolded.
You can reset the bios by removeing the cmos battery.
But ofcouse it could also be the mainboard itselves failing.
This is rarely happening, so i hope its just the power supply.
Try also to look for visual defects on the mainboard, especially the condensators on the mainboard.

Good luck

I have the same problem with Asrock ALiveNF7G-HD720p motherboard with Gigabyte nVidia 8400GS video PCI adapter, it sometimes work but most of the time boot to onboard motherboard even though the BIOS...

You would want to make sure you have the latest bios for the motherboard updated. If the issue happens during post then it would be a motherboard related. However if it only happens in windows it would be an issue with the drives. Try grabbing the latest drivers from NVIDIA's website for your card. Then go into device manager in Windows and make sure you right click the onboard video and disable it. This setting should disable the onboard video in Windows and only allow the 8400GS card to run.

Disable onboard graphics of my PCChips M825LU motherboard?

Hi,

Yes its a BIOS setting that you have to change. Usually you change from on-board to AGP settings or plug the graphics card in, take out the motherboard battery and the power cord from the back, leave it for 20 minutes and put them all back again.

This will reset the BIOS and should auto detect the AGP graphics card. You will however need to set the date and time but you can do that from Windows.

Regards.

Reset the CMOS configuration; remove the on-board battery (lithium coin cell) for about 5 minutes, then put back in and power up. Enter the BIOS to reset time, date etc.

Loss of power to onboard USB and PS2 ports

Hi, I checked a known good spare motherboard with a VOM (continuity tester): pin 4 of the KB PS2 port, pin 1 of the rear USB, pin 1 & 2 of the front panel USB onboard connector, pin 3 of the infrared, pin 4 of the speaker connector, pins 4, 6,21 & 22 of the ATX 24-pin Power Connector are all interconnected (+5VDC). If that is an indication of the general +5 supply layout, you can probably hard wire a new +5 supply line to where the +5 is gone from where it is still available. Of course without a schematic, I might be off. Determining the actual component position of the surface mounted fuse (or fusible link) might not be that easy since manufacturer do not publish such information loosely. A shotgun approach (test all) would be time consuming but of course challenging. Your best bet would probably be as mentioned earlier, hardwire and install in series with the new +5 line a low amp (500ma or lower) smfuse. This article describes the power requirement of USB ports > http://pinouts.ru/Slots/USB_pinout.shtml. Hope this be of some help to you. Pls post again how things turn up. Good luck and kind regards.
