Your TV monitor cannot support the format (scan rate) that your computer's display card is putting out. Go in to the computer's set-up for the resolution under the display properties and adjust the settings to support the TV monitor. Refer to the TV's instruction manual to see the supported formats.

When going back to the computer's display, the display format will have to be changed back to have the proper resolution.

TV sets are generaly not as good as dedicated computer monitors for use on computers.

Problem is not "fixable." The error means that the input signal you have plugged in is not supported by your television.

My neighbor bought a 32"

Unless the tv has a VGA input, or the laptop has a HDMI output, I am afraid you are going through too many conversions to make this work.

I have a Sylvania LC370SS8 (37" LCD + DVD) TV. It will stay on for about an hour, then it shuts itself off. The power light flashes while it's off (for about 5-10 minutes) then it comes back on... and...

I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.

Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors. Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.

Hope this helps

You cannot set your PC video resolution to 1920x1080 @60Hz?

Per user manual:
1. Set computer to a resolution supported by your HDTV (see Preset PC Resolutions). If your
computer supports it, we recommend 1920x1080 @60Hz.
2. Turn off the power to your HDTV and Computer.
3. Connect the VGA cable from your computer to the RGB PC jack on your HDTV.
4. Connect the 1/8-inch audio cable from your computer to the RGB PC Audio jack on your HDTV.
This step is optional and only needed to transmit audio from the computer through the TV.
5. Turn on the power to your HDTV and computer.
6. Select RGB using the INPUT button on the remote control or side of your HDTV.
Note: Refer to your PC computer user manual for more information about the video output requirements.

Can you connect a 2 yr old 42 in vizio to your computer to watch shows ????????// what type of cord is used and who sells them?/ Best buy , hh gregg, sam waltons house line opps wall mart / sams ???

Easiest will be the VGA cable (15 pins on each end), you will also have to set the PC to the native resolution of your TV otherwise you will get the message on the screen saying "format not supported".
You will also need an audio cable, it has male mini stereo phone plug at each end, one end will go into the green audio out athe PC sound card, the other end will go into TV PC audio line input (green jack).
Best Buy should have them.
You should down load the user manual and read all about your TV.
