U probalby is using windows XP or something like that wich can only format ur pendrive as "FAT" file system wich have max 4GB capacity per file, in order to fix your problem you need an external software for formating ur pendrive or use win 7 if you have win 7 just backup your data and format the pendriver and where it says " File system" will come with "FAT" as standard just click and select "NTFS" format it and be happy^^

I want to make my pendrive bootable to install window xp on my computer

download this file unetbootin-windows-471.exe, then you must have an ISO file of your windows xp, you can install ultraiso or any iso maker available on the web, insert your xp cd then make an iso image out of your xp cd... after having iso file for win xp, insert your pen drive (at least you have 1gig free space on your pen drive) then open unetbootin-windows-471.exe, under the disk image, locate your win xp iso file using the select disk image file button,. then just chose Usb Drive , and also on the drive chose the drive of the usb (check it on my computer and check the drive letter of your pen drive) then click ok... once successful transfer of image to the pen drive, restart pc then make your pen drive to be the 1st boot device
