Disconnect the speaker wires at the receiver for zone 2 then test zone 2 on again. If it stays on, disconnect the wires at the zone 2 speakers, make sure wires are separated then reconnect at the receiver and test again. If it still stays on, Your receiver is good, your wires are good, you need to connect one speaker at a time and test power again. When it shorts, pull the speaker and meter it for a short. If your not sure how to do this, take it to any local audio shop and they will usually test for free.

If you have a volume control on zone 2 speakers independent of the receiver, you need to pull it and check it as well for corrosion or shorts.

If at the first step, your receiver still shuts off, the problem is internal and will need to be serviced. If you need further help on this, post a reply or comment and I can help you further. Hope this does the trick!

Denon AVR 1609 volume Zone 2

Logitech recommends that zone 2 is controlled using device mode on your Harmony remote. Controlling zone 1 and zone 2 simultaneously within activities may lead to the AV Receiver turning on and off unexpectedly as you switch between activities. For example, if you try to turn on zone 2 within an activity, it may turn on or off zone 1 and vice versa. Controlling zone 2 in device mode will prevent this from happening.

Zone 2 volume control

Sounds like the Zone 2 amp was set to external, see below for instructions on setting it back up.
How do I setup Zone 2 on the RX-V661 Using the internal power amp.

Setting the RX-V661 remote control to operate Zone 2
1. Using a ballpoint pen or similar object and press the Code set
button. The Transmit indicator on the remote should flash twice.
2. Using the numerical key pad on the remote and key in 9992, the

2. Press the Set Menu Button.
3. Arrow down to Manual Setup.
4. Press the Enter button.

Denon AVR-3805 zone 2 no longer working

time to reset the microprocessor. See page 87 in manual.
1) switch off the unit using the main unit's power operation (small power button)
2) hold the PURE DIRECT button and DIRECT button at same time and turn the main unit's power operation on.
3) wait for entire display to flash in 1 second intervals

now the speakers need to be set up again but zone 2 will be working. i suspect a power surge causes the microprocesser to be corrupted. i put a power surge protector and have not had problems (lately).

Zone 2

I am sure this isn't it, but if all components are connected digitally Zone 2 won't work. It only allows analog connections, so anything attached via HDMI, etc. will not be able to be output to Zone 2.
