Two of the most common causes of I/O (Input/Output) device errors are driver based. Typically, either the device's driver is not enabled or it is out of date. The driver component has an important function, as it acts as a motorlike force that propels USB/plug-and-play hardware into a driving action within the computer. It is the connecting communicating link signaling the CPU to a desired movement. And while not all I/O device error solutions are simplistic, as a good starting point, you can try troubleshooting using a few basic steps, and you might not need to attempt anything else. Access "Control Panel" from the Start menu and then choose "Performance and Maintenance." Click "System" and then go to the Hardware tab and click on "Device Manager." Find the device that is registering an error by expanding the nodes of the appropriate category. If the device has a red "X" on the icon next to its description, the hardware is disabled; proceed to Step 4 to enable it. Otherwise, go to Step 5. Go to the General tab and click "Enable Device" found under the Device Status section; then press "OK." (Note: You may have to follow prompts, as indicated through an enabling device wizard. If you do, continue to click "Next" and follow the prompts until the process has completed.) Test the hardware. If an error is shown, proceed to Step 5. Go to the General tab and click "Troubleshoot" found under the Device Status section then press "OK." Follow the prompts to solve the issue. If an error is still shown, proceed to Step 6. Go to the Driver tab and click "Update Driver." Follow the prompts until the process has completed and then test the hardware.
w7 First, please disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps:

Click "Start" button, type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotation marks) in the "Search" bar and press "Enter". Click "Continue" if necessary.

In Device Manager, double click to expand "Universal Serial Bus controllers", right click on the Host Controller, click "Uninstall" and click "OK".

Repeat the step 2 to uninstall all items under "Universal Serial Bus controllers".

Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will reinstall all USB controllers automatically. for xp or earlier click start right click on computer select properties device manager scroll down universal serial bus controllers you could see a yellow question / exclamation mark? ! or a red X you will need to update/reinstall drivers right click to reinstall drivers if you can see your usb drive but its not working ports (com&lpt) right click update driver if this fails to fix the problem Check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red white green black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems to a computer and its parts

Computer blue screen of death is usually related to hardware or driver. It is typically caused by software errors in device drivers: in Windows systems by poorly written device drive . They can also be caused by physical hardware faults, such as faulty RAM memory or power supplies, overheating of components, or hardware which is run beyond its specification limits . On the other hand, registry damage, corrupted program and viruses are the major causes of computer blue screen, too. According to the issue you've got, the following tips may be available to you.1.An efficiency troubleshooting step on hardware is to start your computer with the minimum hardware necessary to run the operating system. If your computer starts successfully it proves that one of the removed hardware devices was the cause of the STOP message. Otherwise move to the next solution.
2.Boot your computer in Safe Mode by pressing F8 at startup. Then go to My Computer and right-click on Disk C to select Properties from the dropdown menu. From the Tools tab, perform an error check and disk cleaning. 3.If the about two solutions doesn't work, the last one I can suggest you is to create a bootable disk. It is the most quick and effective way for you to solve the problem. You just need to download a software such as TenorshareWindows Boot Genius. It owns a better performance among all kinds of software I've used. Windows Boot Genius is a multiple windows repair tool which can be used to fix all computer errors, create bootable CD/USB, recover data lost and unlock windows password, etc.It is as easy as three steps to fix your computer by use the software:Step 1. Create a bootable usb or cd by this software

Step 2.Set your computer boot from CD or usb flash drive

Step 3.Fix computer blue screen after running up Windows Boot Genius

By the way, reinstall your operating system can also help you out if nothing important stores in it.

To work around the above issues, one of the below solutions could prove helpful:usb-device-not-recognized.jpg
  • Unsecure or Loose Connection
Unplug the presently connected USB device (if any). It is quite possible that the connection is not secure and has become loose. Re-plug the USB device tightly and firmly into the USB port. This is one of the most common reasons for an error in detecting a USB device.
  • Scan for Hardware Changes in Device Manager
Use the Device Manager to scan for new and recently installed hardware. From the Start menu, select the Run option. In the pop up box, type in Devmgmt.msc and then click Ok. From the Action menu, click Scan for hardware changes. This will make Windows scan & recognize any new devices that are installed. Now, close all opened device managers and control panels. Now, follow the above step and see if your computer detects the USB device.
  • USB Hub Power Management
Disable power management of the USB hub. To disable the power management on the USB hub, follow these steps; Click Start, and then click Run. Type devmgmt.msc in the popup box, and then click Ok. Expand the Universal Serial Bus Controllers' node, and then follow these steps for each USB Root Hub that is listed.

well..that's quite a few items to be invisible to your bios..sounds like a moderate to severe corruption issue..

i recommend a full re installation of the core driver set, which should be on a cd that came with the computer when purchased.
