Question about Computers & Internet

Laptop crashes Just recently my laptop has started to completely shut down when i am in the middle of doing something like playing a game or listening to music. There is no warning the laptop just shuts down. It seems like it shuts down when it gets too hot, but there are other times that it shuts down after being in use only 15 - 20 mins. Not sure what is wrong with it. I am thinking something with the power throughout the laptop. Any help would be great!

Well, one of the problems could be that you have had the laptop for a long time and a lot of dust is trapped in the computer. you can probably get this cleaned at bestbuy (geek squad) or circuit city. in my computer, it just locked up

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Why is my laptop crashing?

I would try getting the latest video card drivers first, if it is a Nvida card & it has recently updated itself, I would roll back the drivers, there has been a problem with the last update & my computer didn't like the upgrade & blue screened a lot, but was fine after I rolled them back in safe mode, if the problem if not repairable via software then go to a Laptop specialist, for what its worth I think its a software issue as you say its only when playing games, but im not an expert just well informed.

Microsoft free repair

couple of things

how old is your pc? because if its over 10 years old it will struggle.
how demanding is the game? if the minimum requirements for the game are higher than you laptop/pc then it will struggle and ultimately crash, but this can happen even on the high performance gaming machines.

the best thing I can suggest is to download "speccy" this is a very useful utility to provide you with more information than you need. but what it does show is the temperature monitor these whilst playing games and whilst idle.

once you have a rough figure of the temperature have a look at the max operating temperature of you CPU (will have to look online)
if this is close to the danger mark then you will just have to come up with a coolling solution

Since yesterday, after playing Call of Duty and installing a game, my laptop crashed and it showed a blue screen saying something like "Windows has shut down to prevent it from being damaged bla bla...

first try to restore them in a previous date, if not done then go to safe mode and uninstall the software/game which you have installed recently. if all not done then you have to reinstall OS (assuming VGA/Graphic is in gud condition as this can also happen due to display card/driver faliure)

When im playing games such as callofduty on my computer vindictus or heroes of newerth on my Hp Pavilion dv7-3160us it seems to freeze in about 2minutes into the game the screen stays normal but nothing...

Your laptop is under power to run these games. The only solution to this is, either upgrading few of the component, Since this is a laptop, I doubt you can upgrade the video card, and you may need to find a higher performace laptop or a desktop to run the games. Remember game min. recommemation is only for a desktop, and with laptop even with some of the same spec, laptop hardware underperform with desktop hardware always!

Dell Inspiron 1525 shuts down

You have had Win 7 for TWO YEARS? Hmmmm well anyway thats the problem. You see Win 7 and games don't MIX, the only way may help is to run in compatibility mode for XP SP2, and Run & Install as Administrator.

Computer shutting down ( hard shut down) with out notice

This sounds like you may have some bad RAM, or your processor is overheating.

Try running Microsoft Memory Diagnostics:

Asus F3S Laptop Graphics Card Died

If you have run the laptop in safe mode it uses the standard VGA graphics driver, and this indicates the onboard graphics card is still functioning.
Try connecting and external monitor to your laptop and the boot up your laptop.
Then :-
1. Download the latest graphics driver from ASUS WEB site.
2. uninstall the graphics driver.
3. Reboot the laptop and install the new graphics driver.
4. Shut down and remove the external monitor and reboot.
5. Goto the Control panel - Display and check/set the settings for screen resolution, Colour setting etc.
