Problem for Flat Panel Televisions
Generic problem for all Flat Panel Televisions
Won't turn on.
I have a 32" about a month ago when we turned it off then turned it back on the picture wouldn't come back. After a while of being left on the picture came back it was in the center of the tv all wavy with white lines at first then it went back to normal after a few minutes. The next time we turned it off it did the same thing. So we decided to leave it on. About a week ago the side of the screen would sort of wave a bit but then go back to normal hardly noticable. A few days ago it turned its self off. The power light comes on but the picture will not come back. And if we leave it on it turns its self off. Any ideas what it might be and how to fix it? Thanks.

Model #: LG 32LG40 2 days ago. I programmed my cable remote to operate the tv last night, and when I went to set the code by pushing the power button, the tv turned off as it should... EXCEPT it wouldnt come back on w/the cable remote (specifally, mean , the red standby light flashes, then the blue power light holds ANY remote functions let alone the function buttons on the tv itself). So I grabbeed the LG remote and no response. We unplugged/replugged/cycled and every other type of trouble shooting we could think of. We called LG and they said unplug tv, push in power button until it flashes and plug it back in. Nothing. Then I realized my cable box (DVR) was recording, and thought maybe there was a connection. I called the cable co. and they were at a loss. We grabbed our small kitchen tv to test the cable box and it worked fine. We stopped the recording and retried the tv. It worked fine! Well, I've always been one to push the envelope some, so figured I'd "prove" to myself that the cable remote would operate the tv now. HMPH! Powered off... wouldnt come back on... again. I tried everything. I tried multiple input connections (coaxial, rca, dvd, 2 cable boxes). Finally I resolved to watching tv on a 13" screen, left the tv unplugged and went to bed. This morning I ALMOST tried it, but was so ********** at it, that I left it for my husband to test. We went to breakfast, and when we got back home, he went into the room to 'fix' the tv. Lo and behold, it worked fine. We tested the power manually, and it was fine. We vowed to NEVER use the cable remote again and things were going just fine... UNTIL I decided to 'clean up' the mess caused by trou le shooting the issue. I ever so gently slid the furniture back in place and wouldnt you know it, I lost power for like a nano second (power strip twisted) and I'm now back to square one. GRRRRR. I realize this is lenghthy but the timeline seemed important, as well as the very simplistic nature of the acts that caused the problem. LG swears this isnt indicitive of their products, but contrary to their self boasting, thier tv's do seem to suffer from power issues. Not sure if there's any help for me, or if this will at least help someone else feel less alone in the world of LG TV power issues, but I hope for both... Thanks!

Do not buy Hp PL5060N/HP PL4260N plasma HDTV. Mine only lasted a little over one year (just when warrant ran out) Now, I find that many buyers have had the same problem--ysus board failure--$625 to repair--with only a 60day warrant. I guess HP knows about this but hasn't recalled them. When you call to report this, the attitude is "tough luck". I will never buy another HP product and am passing the word to everyone I know and a lot I don't know. Are there any others out there?
