Over time the heat can causes the plastic parts to swell until the button that releases the lid gets stuck. The button can be easily & carefully pried completely out of the hole with a knife **note the orientation of the button and spring for replacement. Clean the button & hole but expect the button to still stick when re-inserted back into the kettle. Take the button back out and if you take a knife and gently carve/scrape away some of the plastic round the inside of the rim of the 'hole' and around the edge of the plastic button, you can remove enough of the plastic so that the button now moves easily back and forth in the hole releasing the lid. Good luck.

How do i get into the trunk on my 2003 grandam with no key and my trunk button on my door doesnt work

Voltage is applied at all times through the TRUNK REL/RFA fuse to the rear compartment lid release switch and the switch side of the rear compartment lid release relay. When the release switch is pressed, the following actions occur:
• The switch closes.
• Voltage is applied to the coil side of the rear compartment lid release relay.
When the transaxle is in PARK or NEUTRAL, the rear compartment lid release relay is grounded through the transaxle range switch. With the coil side of the relay energized, the relay contacts close, applying voltage to the rear compartment lid release motor.
If the vehicle is equipped with remote entry, the switch operation is the same, except when the contacts in the rear compartment lid release relay close, voltage is applied through the normally closed contacts of the remote control door lock receiver. This action occurs in order to apply voltage to the rear compartment lid release motor.

Can you check fuse's , relay ? Both are located in the left insturment panel fuse box . Fuse Block - Left I/P
On the left side of the I/P
you need to open the drivers door to get to it ,on very end of the insturment panel .
Do you know anything about relay's , how they work ? If you pull the relay out of the fuse box an look on the bottom you will see four set's of numbers . 30 & 87 . if you took a piece of wire an jumped were this pins plug into the fuse box the trunk would open . provided there is B+ voltage at pin 30 .
There are videos on youtube showing how to test relays and their circuits .

Can not open trunk on a pontiac soltice. No clicking sound from remote or switch in glove box fuses are ok

The rear compartment lid release system consists of the following components:
• Body control module (BCM)
• Folding top cover actuator
• GMLAN serial data link
• Keyless entry transmitter
• Rear compartment lid ajar switch
• Rear compartment lid release actuator
• Rear compartment lid release switch
• Remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR)
• Trunk fuses
• Trunk release relay

Rear Compartment Lid Release System Operation
The rear compartment lid can be released by operating the rear compartment lid release switch or pressing the rear compartment lid release button on the keyless entry transmitter. When the rear compartment lid release switch is operated, the rear compartment lid release switch signal circuit to the body control module (BCM) is switched to ground. The BCM receives the rear compartment lid release switch input and applies ground to the trunk release relay control circuit. This energizes the trunk release relay coil, closing the switch side contacts, allowing battery voltage to be applied to the rear compartment lid release actuator and folding top cover actuator, releasing the buttresses and opening the rear compartment lid. Ground for the rear compartment lid release switch is provided at G300. The rear compartment lid ajar switch, rear compartment lid release actuator, and folding top cover actuator are provided ground at G301. The rear compartment lid will not release until the vehicle speed is zero and in park.

Do you know what DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes are ?
DTC B3265 01 : Trunk Relay Output Short to Battery
DTC B3265 06 : Trunk Relay Output Short to Ground or Open

Do you know what a relay is an how it works ? TRUNK release relay located in the underhood fuse / relay box.

1998 Buick Park Ave. courtesy likes don't work along with trunk release button, A/C ducting vents only work on passenger side (A/C works otherwise). Dash lights only come after dark.

This is not a BCM problem , if it were there would be DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored in the BCM ! Need a factory or professional grade scan tool . Ther HVAC - heating ,ventilation an A/C venting problem is more then likely a mode door actuator problem , an it's not controlled by the BCM .
courtesy likes don't work, I'am assuming you mean courtesy lights ? The trunk release problem could just be the lock actuator or the release relay in the rear fuse/ relay box . Regardless of the problem , checking for DTC'S with a capable scan tool an view inputs to the BCM is the proper why to diagnose these type problems ! Not guessing an assuming it's the BCM ! There is a lot of wiring an messaging between modules on serial data network ! There are other qualified independent repair shops !
Rear Compartment Lid Release Description
When the valet lockout in the rear compartment lid release switch is in the UNLOCK position, battery positive voltage (B+) is applied in the following ways:
• From the TRUNK REL fuse
• Through the contacts of the rear compartment lid release relay
• Through CKT 56 (BLK/WHT) to the rear compartment lid release actuator
The rear compartment lid release actuator is grounded at all times through CKT 650 (BLK) to ground G400.
Pressing the rear compartment lid release switch provides a ground input signal to the body control module (SBM) through CKT 1576 (BLK), the switch contacts and CKT 450 (BLK). The SBM provides a message on the Class 2 serial data line to the remote function actuator (RFA) module. The RFA module in turn grounds the rear compartment lid release relay control at terminal A1. This terminal grounds CKT 1344 (LT BLU) which energizes the rear compartment lid release relay coil. The relay contacts close in order to perform the following functions:
• Actuate the rear compartment lid release actuator
• Release the rear compartment lid.
The rear compartment lid may be released using the keyless entry transmitter regardless of the valet lockout position. Pressing the rear compartment lid release button on the transmitter provides a signal to the remote function actuator (RFA) module. The RFA module grounds the rear compartment lid release relay control at terminal A1. This ground applied to CKT 1344 (LT BLU) actuates the rear compartment lid release relay.
Replacing a BCM without knowing what your doing could make thing's worst . These modules need to be programmed , Dealer only !
Your light problem probably is do to a none functional panel dimming module ! Lamp control module !
This vehicle has only one BCM !

Body Control Module (SBM)
Under the right side of the IP, near the rear of the IP compartment
Lamp Control Module (LCM)
Under the left side of the IP, to the right of the steering column

Rear Junction Block
In the center right rear of the passenger compartment, under the rear seat cushion

I dropped paper towel behind the drum in the top load washing machine. Do I need to worry?

Maybe not.
Unplug the power from the wall.
Take a putty knife blade and bright light, find the catches at the front of the machine at the gap just between the top and bottom an inch or so in from both sides. Slip the putty knife in at the catch and apply pressure to the highest part of the catch while gently lifting the lid on the side until it releases. Do the same to the other front catch until it releases. Now hang on to the hinged door lid while opening the whole lid towards the rear and fish out the lost item. Gently close the whole lid and while it is resting on the catches, give the lid a final press down to latch the lid closed on the latches. Plug the machine back in and feel the accomplishment of a DYI'er!

I would rather you recover the errant object than risk harm from it getting into the motor. If it is too far to reach, use a yard stick with masking tape attached to snare the paper towel with the sticky side of the tape extending off the end of the stick.

Good luck!

There is a switch..(interlock) that activates when the lid is open or closed...not allowing the unit to go into spin if the lid is open. It may be that the machine thinks the lid is open. The switch could be dirty or broken or loose. There is a little leg sticking out from the underside of the lid, that goes into a slot on the machine when the lid is closed, that activates the switch. Make sure this all looks good, (no obstructions or debris in the slot) and the leg goes all the way into the slot (lid closes all the way).
You should see a little plastic lever in the slot that the leg on the lid will contact when you close it. If it is there and unobstructed, try gently pushing down on with your finger or the back of a pencil or something, until you hear a faint click (switch). It should spring back into position when you release. Its a quick and easy check. Good luck.

Locked out of trunk 2000 cadillac eldorado release button not working i removed lock on trunk still cant get in trunk

Pressing the rear compartment lid release switch provides an input signal to the instrument cluster. The instrument cluster sends a Class 2 serial data message to the body control module (PZM). The PZM grounds connector C6 of the rear compartment lid release solenoid through CKT 1344 (LT BLU) if the following conditions are present:
The transaxle is in the PARK position.

The valet lockout switch is closed.

Power is supplied through the following components to the now-grounded CKT 1344 (LT BLU):

CKT 40 (ORN)

The coil of the rear compartment lid release relay
The relay coil energizes and closes the relay contacts.
Power is supplied from the CONVENIENCE fuse through the following components:
CKT 2040 (ORN)

The now-closed relay contacts

The rear compartment lid release solenoid
The solenoid energizes and the rear compartment lid latch assembly releases the rear compartment lid.

2003 saturn ion, does this have some sort of safty device to help cushion the truck closing

I would think that there should be some micro gas charges shocks on the deck lid. I am not positive as to this model, but most cars do have them now a days.

Hinge on quiet close stopped working

A lot of these slow closing toilet seats don't work well, so I suggest an alternative, Drop-a-Seat cushions. They stick on to the bottom of the toilet seat, allow you to drop any toilet seat, gravity does all the work, and the cushions absorb the impact. They're non-absorbent, stick on for easy installation (permanent yet removable), and are only $4.99. Check them out at

Hello. I have an HP 2610xi. I opened to replace

There is no lock open postion, therefore no release button is provided.
Take the toner out that you just put in, then try to close door gently.
If the door closes ok the problem is with the toner. Check you have removed shipping pull tabs (Usually Orange) on new toner. Next, on one end of the drum shutter there should be a small point which the machine uses to open the shutter when you close the door. If the shutter won't open or the point is missing (Broken off) the printer door witll not close.
