Won't turn on

Washed & cleaned the fryer, did not get anything wet that should not be, will not come on.  Is there a relay some where I am not seeing?

loved the product. used it twice a week since we got it. made a second batch of chicken when it turned itself off. tried another outlet and waited for it to cool down. still nothing.

When plugged in,the unit will not come on, when I press the minus side of the temperature button the red light comes on as I hold it, but the unit itself will not come on.

Yes there is. The heater assembly has some slides that must be inserted in the base for the unit to light up.

My Breville BDF450 will not turn on (no lights no nothing). Heated oil up prior to cleaning. Cleaned and changed oil now unit will not work at all

Did you pour out the oil when it was still at it's hottest temp? I would guess there is a master overheat sensor that tripped off. It will be a little thermodisc with 2 power wires connected to it. Find and replace that thermostat sensor. You can test it for continutiy with a volt meter.

My deep fryer pilot somtimes goes out after burners ignite

I assume this is a natural gas fryer....Are your jets clean? That is an issue sometimes, and those are the small holes that your flames come out of....Is your gas line clogged anywhere....? I don't sell Dean fryers, not too impressed by that brand, as they leak quite often, and then Dean won't honor their warranty program....so I'm not as familiar with their products, however on some brands, the thermostat dial itself should not be turned to the holding temperature until after it lights and is fully on...Do you turn it to say 350 degrees right away or wait for it to light before selecting your temperature? Thermostats themselves going bad is the number one issue with fryers, so it could be that. To clean out the burner jets, we use a compressor and blow them out clean...You can also use a small brush or skewer to clean them out. I would eliminate everything you can that has no costs involved first, and then move to parts that you have to purchase. If you need a thermostat, I could get you a price on Monday... Our toll free number is 888-542-5959, Restaurant Equipment Outlet, Cincinnati, Ohio. We would need the brand/model number and serial if you have it also. Our service tech who specializes in gas products is off Monday, but there are other people there who can help and get you pricing on parts. I won't be in until after lunch myself Monday, but check out what you can, and if nothing works, then call us on Mon or Tues next week.
Everything is closed up until Monday, so we can't order or get pricing over the week-end. Good luck, hope this helps.

Fryer wont turn on since I cleaned it

I don't service home models, only commercial products, however I would guess that something got wet somehow? Let it dry out for a few days and even a week or so, and then try it. If not, I would junk it and buy another...

Two imperial isf40 fryers taken apart and cleaned, inside did get wet. Now trying to light them both and neither will light and no gas getting to pilot light but gas is for sure working up to the unit.

Disassemble the pilot light tube and blow out with clean compressed air from a compressor.
This should get rid of any residual water in there that is blocking the pilot light.

Also, check the thermocouple if so equipped to make sure its tip is in the flame once the pilot light tube is cleaned out.

Good luck on this repair.

Why won't my fryer get any power? When I plug it in it will not turn on to heat up or do anything else. Thanks!

Most of the time the electrical connection is in need of cleaning up from the grease.

Not sure how to clean heating element

Yes you can get it wet, but make sure it is dry before you turn it on. If the element is detachable, that is good. If not, you may not be able to put it under water because water could get into the electrical components. There should be a caution tag on it that tells you if you can put it in water. One thing you can consider is drain the oil and put in water with a cleaning agent and then turn it on and let it come to a boil, then shut off and do this several times. This will remove a lot of the build up on it.

Won't turn on

We have an F1066 and the same thing happened. My wife washed the heating elements and did not get water in the electronics but for some reason it would not come on.

After sitting for about 24 hours, it finally came on. I dont know if it was condensation that got in there or was it just that she accidentally got water on it but it worked fine after that.

Cleaning

From http://www.rivalproducts.com/help.aspx?helpNav=1: How can I clean my fryer? - Unplug from outlet and allow unit to cool. Always turn control to OFF then disconnect plug from wall outlet BEFORE disconnecting BREAK-AWAY CORD. - Clean the outside of the fryer and lid with a damp cloth. CAUTION: Do not use abrasive pads or alcohol to clean the fryer. - Remove basket handle, if one is included. Frying basket can be washed in hot soapy water. - Rinse and towel dry carefully. - Pour out oil and discard properly. - Wipe the inside with paper towels to absorb excess grease. Wash interior of fryer with hot soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly. CAUTION: Never immerse the fryer in water or wash in running water. If you own a fryer with a removable bowl or other removable parts, refer to the Owner?s Guide for your specific fryer to determine which parts can be cleaned in the dishwasher.
