you need to do a lot of test,
1. check in bios if your cd-drive or dvd- drive is in enable if not enable it.
2. if your cd drive was enable, try to insert another cd, if the cd you insert was read by cd- drive, the problem is your cd. then if the other cd you insert is also din't work the problem is the cd-drive or dvd- drive.

installing CD drive no need installation driver, just install it like install Harddisk drive but you need to open the slot for your CD drive (dont forget to screw it). after u finish install it just reboot your computer, then the CD will automatically installed.
That depends upon the IDE cable you are attaching the CD ROM to.
There are two IDE cables attached to the motherboard, on IDE 1 connector/cable will be your boot hard drive (C drive) and this will be jumpered to Master and you can attach the CD ROM drive to this cable and set the jumper on the CD drive as Slave.
On IDE 2 connector/cable if there are no drives attached to this cable then the CD ROM drive can be jumpered as Master or Slave..
If there is another drive on the same IDE 2 cable then look at the jumper on that drive, if it is jumpered to Master then the CD drive needs to be jumpered to Slave. If the existing drive is jumpered as Slave then the CD drive needs to be jumpered as Master.
Both drives on the same IDE cable cannot be jumpered with the same setting.

it seems you need to have your cd drive cleaned. you can use the cd cleaner cd fond in many super stores or computer stores. If your drive is a DVD drive, you need to get the DVD driver cleaner cd.
