Hello,
If you need to use HDMI cables to link electronic devices to your high definition television, you may be wondering how to tackle the connection process. Fortunately, connecting HDMI cables to a high definition television is a simple task that can be completed in a timely and stress-free fashion.
Prep Your TelevisionBefore connecting your HDMI cables, make sure your television has been safely turned off. Connecting or disconnecting cables when the device is operational can cause damage to your television.
Locate Your Television's HDMI Connection PortsNow that you've turned off your television, you'll need to locate its HDMI connection ports. These ports are typically located on the right side or the back end of high definition televisions. Be sure to consult your television's owner's manual or the manufacturer's website to determine the location of the HDMI connection ports. Take care not to confuse the device's HDMI connection ports with its standard AV connection ports because the two can appear to be similar.
Connect Your HDMI CablesHaving turned off your television and located the appropriate ports, insert your HDMI cables' connectors into the corresponding color-coded connection ports on both your television and the linking device. Your television should then be ready for the electronic device hook-up.

Hope this helpout....

How do I connect my flat screen tv to my Phillips MX3900 system

This is an older home theater package and only has component video out for HD and RCA or SPDIF optical out for audio. You'll need to locate the component video input on the back of your flat panel and connect it to the component output of the Phillips unit. Component cables have 3 RCA cable (Red, Blue, Green) for HD. You can use a RED/WHITE RCA cable for audio but if you have a SPDIF Optical cable you should use that for better sound. The TV should have that as an input also. You will need to go into the Menu for the TV and select component video and SPDIF optical if you went that route for audio.

Compatibility fo TV and Sound system

TV has audio outputs, the RCA cable type. If you connect the audio output (red, white) from the TV(look on the back), and connect the RCA cable to Input of home theater system, you should get TV sound from home theater system. You may have to set the audio on the TV for external source. Go to menu, to audio setup, to options. On the Home Theater system, you may have to select the audio source, i.e. audio input 1, etc.

What is the proper way to connect to home theater system?

Does the Sub have a Low- Level input? This is a RCA type female connector, what you need to do is run a Male RCA cable from your home theatre where it says Sub-OUT and go into the Sub woofer Line in. Unless you only have speaker wire inputs on the back of the Sub then take the Left and Right front into the Sub speaker inputs and then out of the Sub speaker OUTS back to your speakers.

Hooking up home theater

Run a regular RCA type audio cable from your TV audio out to your Home Theatre audio in. That is what I have done recently with my Samsung LCD and Home Theater. You then have to put your Home Theater on Aux 1 or Aux 2 to get the sound from TV. Ensure your TV's volume is off.
