Question about Intex Automatic Salt Water System for Above Ground Saltwater Pool

1 Answer

Running brand new Intex salt water system. Ran fine for a few hours then the low flow indicator cam one. I rinsed out the brand new filter and it started back up fine. A few more hours and it's back to low flow. I take the filter out and the flow is fine. Put the filter in and it's low flow. What's up with that?

How do i get a higher flow into my pool

The low flow could be caused by a clogged filter. If you have a sand filter and the pressure gauge is reading a high pressure then turn the control valve to Backwash the sand filter until the water is clear in the waste pipe (usually for 2 to 3 mins). then turn the control valve to Rinse for about 1 min then turn the control valve to Filter.

Did you check the salt level and was it between 2000 to 3000ppm?? These are the two causes for the low salt alarm.. Dirty scale buildup on the cell and low salt level.. Also, you may need to add a scale buildup preventer. hth makes a bottle called "cell saver" it works okay and prolongs my cell cleaning cycles...

I lost my manual, What do the codes mean on the salt water chlorenator in particular the code "93"?

88 ia str8 filtering
90 is low flow
91 is low salt
92 is high salt
93 is sleep mode

after running the amount of hours you set for chlorine generation it will shut down and display 93
The system wil then turn back on 24 hours later for the same amount of time

this is ok but every day is different you may need 5 hours and sometimes 12 or any where in between

to reset just unplug and plug back in

To further help you look up some of my posts on green water and low salt I am positive you will find them very helpful

Intex salt water witha 18x48 witha 2000/gph pump. my salt water system keeps saying low salt... my salt tested fine after adding more and ive cleaned the cell... it will stay on about 20 min then beeps low...

nothing is wrong that you cant fix
you must have your salt no lower than 2800ppm
and no higher than 3800
3000ppm is the best
make sure you run filter only for 24 hours once you have correct salt then start generating

one last thing test with strips that read #'s not the color strips

I am not impressed at all with these salt water chlorinators.Shock the water and keep the filter running next day add a powdered chlorine.filter still running. check the balance with test strip in about four hours. If chlorine level is good start vacuming the algee off the bottom of the pool. Now throw away the salt generator and stay with the chlorine packs every week to two weeks continue to monitor with test strips

Low salt indicator

high concentration? Salt is salt except for the fact in aq pool you want 98% pure and it must not be iodized salt
Also before generating salt with the timer you must have the right amount of salt
the #'s in the manual are just guidelines
get a salt test kit and get your pool to 3000ppm you need to filter only 24 hours or so getting to the 3000ppm wheather you ad salt or need to drain water and ad fresh none the less get it to 3000ppm
Now worry about your chlorine level if it is to high leave alone until it comes down if too low then run the generator for a few hours if it does not show on the scale at all try 4-6 hours
you will get a knack for the amount of time you need for your chlorine situation

if once all of this is set right and you still get high reading on salt unit take it apart as directed and spray it out with the garden hose
it is really simple only 4 screws
