We have a Fisher and Paykel toploader, smart drive 603. After setting up a washing cycle and pushing the start button, the machine starts for a few seconds with the water filling in in short bursts (rather than through a continuous flow) and then stops, beeps and the following lights come on: short wash, 2nd rinse light, spin light and spin-speed lights 'slow' and 'hold'. Is this an error message and if yes, what does it mean? Your help is most appreciated.

9. (00001001) Phase 1 to 5 - Size Error
Phase 4 to 5
The Display size switch setting does not match that stored in memory.
Action - Reselect the size of Smartdrive by using the SIZE SETTING MODE. Push and hold
the water temp up button, then press the power button to enter SIZE SETTING MODE. Three
LEDs are used to identify size. The cold water temperature LED identifies 5kg. The low water
level LED identifies 6kg. The hold spin speed LED identifies 7kg. If the product has not been
setup before all 3 LEDs will be on. To set the size for 5kg push the wash temp up button then
the power button. To set the size for 6kg push the water level up button then the power button.
To set the size for 7kg push the spin speed up button then the power button. This locks the size
into memory. To check the size is set, start a cycle.

Fisher & Paykel Smart Drive beeps and stops during rinse cycle. If I hit pause and wait and restart it eventually continues. It seems like it has problems detecting water level.

try it on a spin cycle if it does not work check your door interlock

need to have a look at the machine, how old is the machine 15 years roughly, Yes this is when the machine plays up, hard to find spare parts. If you are getting rid of the machine let me know. 0412676652 Since I want to learn fixing the machine, I did fix one of this model long time ago

Sounds like your out of balance switch is corroded. It is located underneath your gold motor controller board.

most likely your problem is your lid switch visit your local spare parts dealer and purchase a new one

prss and hold the fav button till u hear 2 beeps , set whatever u want it to be and then prss and hold the button till u hear 1 beep turn power off , set

unplug the washer and wait 10 or 15 mins sometimes it takes time to reset the program
