Its the problem with compressor,The problem is weak compressor. The refrigerant ( R12) in the
compressor is got low.The compressor is weak. The compressor needs to be
replaced.--------------The working procedure of this unit is as follows: --- The
compressor starts then it cools the freezer section. When the freezer reaches
its cooling level the defrost cycle starts functioning. In this cycle the fan
in the freezer section starts running and the cool air in the freezer section
is passed to the fridge section and the fridge section gets cold. The air from
freezer to refrigerator passes from the section, in that section the damper is
located.------------But as you mentioned that freezer not cooling this indicates
problem with compressor. When compressor cools the freezer section then fridge
section gets cold.If freezer section is not getting properly cold then fridge
section will not cool properly/.So the problem relates to compressor.----------
In the compressor there is a refrigerant called FREON.With the help of this
Freon the compressor cools the freezer section.Freon is a gaseous type cooling
agent. The compressor will stop cooling when coolant gets leaked from its
chamber.---------Again recharging the Freon is possible, but the cost for that
recharging is approx the cost of new compressor. So its always advisable to get
compressor replaced.Because new compressor has warranty for few
years.------------------You can get required parts from from online sites like: ---
www.repairclinic.com or from searspartsdirect online site. --------- This
When the freezer section gets cold and reaches its required cooling temperature, after that the frost on freezer section starts defrosting and the cooling fan in the freezer section blows this cool air from freezer to fridge. But if the defrost cycle does not start then over ice will get collected on freezer ventilations and that will block the air passing section from freezer to fridge, so the freezer gets cool but fridge section does not cool.
Its defrost problem. Try manual defrost by unplugging the refrigerator from main power outlet for 24 hours then reconnect it and check, if the same problem is noticed again,. If yes then its defrost board problem. The defrost board located in the back of fridge section. You can get required parts from www.repairclinic.com or from online sears part site. ------------- Thank you.
if you can hear the fan still blowing but no cold air coming up to fridge section a common problem with bottom mount freezers is the door gets left open and the air ducts freeze up and the air can't blow up to the top.turn the control off in the freezer.remove the top shelf and the door, check to see if there are any screws one on each side of the slide arms,if there are remove them and lift the door up and out, with a hair dryer melt out the ice by blowing the hot air up each side of the back wall, also if the back inside wall of the freezer is covered with ice or like snow then you have a defrost problem but if there's no ice on back wall do what i said and blow the air up the sides of the back wall through the vents until no more water is seen dripping through the vent holes, then turn the freezer back on and check to see if you feel cold air blowing in through the vents in the fridge section,if you feel cold air then you're all set,if not keep blowing the hot air up the sides until it's melted out.let me know what you find, you'll know if the door was left open, ice will be on the ceiling near the light switch and sometimes on the top of the freezer door. However if fan has quit totally then it will have to be replaced since it is responsible for cooling the upper part of the fridge
Generally on these models they rely on cold air being pumped fr\om the freezer to the fridge and have a adjusting device to control the flow, you need to locate and check this is free and working properly. Another reason for freezer ice up is a shortage of gas in the unit, this is usually unfixable as the leak can rarely be found as it usually occurs within the cabinet case. Sorry to say it would then be a throw away.
I have a side by side jenn-air refrigerator, the freezer compartment working fine and making ice like it should, however the refrigerator compartmant is not cooling, no cold air is felt, I need advise.
The compressor not working, relay switch on compressor not working Had repair man put new switch in .Last year put in new fan motor in freezer compartment the cool air was not circulating both problems made the fridge not to cool and drip water
