Question about Car Audio & Video

2 Answers

I removed the battery in my 2002 Porsche Boxster for the winter. Now I have re-installed the battery and the radio is dead. I unhooked the battery for 24 hours and still no life. I have the code but no power for the radio. I left the ignition on for 60 minutes and nothing. I don't have the fuse panel diagram so can't check the fuse, but everything else works fine. What next?

There should be a lay out of the fuses on the back of the cover for the fuses. There is also one in your owners manual.

Also the fuse box location is on the drivers side kick panel.

According to my wifes Boxster the radio fuse is # 19. There is also a 10 amp fuse on the back side of the radio.

    Good Luck

Hello,

the radio is not receiving power from the battery that's why its not turning on. You need to trace the wire that transfers power from the battery to the radio. It might also be a fuse problem just has you stated above.

You just have to do some wire connection tracing in other to get to the root of the problem. It might also be a wire disconnection problem.

So if its not something you can do on your own, maybe you should call a serviceman to help you out.

Good luck.

Last year when this happened the dealer suggested to unhook the battery for 24 hours and then re hook...I did that and it powered up. Do you know what number the radio fuse is??

know what number the radio fuse is??

    Hello,

if the radio powered up after you removed the battery last year, then maybe you should still give the radio sometime as it might pick up. You can remove the battery for more than 24hrs this time around.

As for the fuse number, I don't know the fuse number for your radio. Do you have the manual for your car? You can check the fuse number from there.

Also, you can hit the fuse box a little, as there might be a disconnection from there. Hit it a bit and see if the radio might come up.

    Take care.

I have the manual but no diagram for fuses. I checked the power wires and all looks normal. I'll try hitting it a bit, but other than removing the battery and reinstalling there's been no work done and no wires disturbed.
