Either the PTO clutch itself, or the wiring to it, is shorted, causing the fuse to blow. The PTO clutch is mounted on the motor shaft, prevented from rotating by an anchor bolted to the chassis. A pair of wires lead away from it to a connector (probably after passing through the chassis). Disconnect that connector - may be one for each wire, or a double-contact connector. Look carefully at the wires -- they are in a vulnerable area, lots of vibration, and could chafe to wear away their insulation, grounding out to the chassis. That could be fixed with some tape. Get an ohmmeter with a low resistance scale (200 ohms or less is even better) and measure the resistance between the PTO clutch wires - should be about 1.5 to 2.5 ohms. If much less, the clutch is shorted and must be replaced. Good luck! If helpful, please rate my answer, thanks!

Snapper pro blowing fuses

Usually fuses blow due to resistance against the engine trying to turn the blades. Make sure everything spins freely.

Cant get the switch to acctavate the mower deck on a cub cadet lawnmower

Check the fuse, tan/blue wire coming off ig switch or tan coming off PTO sw.
If it keeps blowing, check wire going to PTO unit for shorts or defective connection to PTO.

Scotts 2554 mower wont start added new battery, cleaned carb and needle seat. new pto switch but still pops fuse when u pull the pto switch, put new swi=tch in and now wont even turn over at all

Does the engine turn over?. The pto switch you mentioned is this the POWER TAKE OFF switch? In other words starts the deck? If so, it must be off when starting the mower. Any internal combustion motor needs fuel and spark. If it cranks over check for a spark. If no spark determine if it has points or breakerless ignition. Also check magneto coil. If you have spark then, be sure fuel is getting to the carb. With today's gasoline, you can't let it sit in the tank long without adding an additive. If the PTO switch you described, is blowing a fuse, then it cold be a bad coil on the clutch. You can disconnect this coil to see if it stops blowing the fuse. you didn't mention if it is a Kohler or BS engine. A short in the pto wiring perhaps?

Form what you are desribing you have a direct short, probaly in the wiring going to pto. I t has rubbed somewhere and is causing your short. Unplug the wires at connector close to your pto clutch and try it again and see if fuse stuill blows after you unhook it.

If the fuse still blows it is in the wiring going back up to thje switch. If the fuse does not blow after unhooking wiring connector the problem is in the clutch.
