Question about Panasonic DMR-EZ47V DVD Recorder/VCR

1 Answer

Any key I press on the remote control, I get "SET 1" on the small screen of the DVD. This happened suddenly. Model # : DMR-ES36V. Please help me. I even changed the batteries for the remote control so that doesn't seem to be the problem.

Hello,

once your DVD shows the 'set 1' in the small screen display, select the ok button to see if it will give you a list of options on what to do next.

If it does not, turn off the dvd player and turn it back on, then try to operate it with the remote.

If it does the same, try to operate the dvd player with the buttons on the front part, if it does the same, then the problem is from the player.

Try to get it to a DVD repairer so they can help you flash it with the appropriate software so as to reset the dvd player.

Take care

Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately, no OK button exist on the remote control or the DVD/VCR combo. The few buttons that are on the DVD work. I've already tried that. Whether the TV set is on or not, if I press, for instance, on DVD/VHS Power which is the button to turn the DVD on, SET 1 appears on the screen. I turned it off twice. Once, not for a long period of time and the second time for a longer period of time. Now 12:00 flashes on the screen and I cannot fix the time on the machine. Please, try to come up with something else. I'll be waiting for your next comment. Thank you. If you need a more accurate description of the remote, let me know.

I will put an end to your misery. I was going through the manual and it says before the troubleshooting section that if SET + a number appears on the screen, it means : The remote control and main unit are using different codes. Change the code on the remote control - see page 19.

Mind you, I tried to change the code but no key are working on the remote control and there aren't enough keys on the DVD machine to do the job instead of using the remote.

Thanks all the same for your help. Will have to take the unit somewhere to get this fixed somehow. But anything they will try, I already have.

The remote just says set 2 and does nothing

Does the TV screen say Set 2 or the display area on the DVD recorder? The original remote for the DMR-ES35VS doesn't have a screen. (If you are using a universal remote, I'm not sure how to reset the unit.)

The Set 2 indicates that the unit was set to listen to a remote on the second wavelength available on these remotes. Your remote needs to be set to the same wavelength. Press and hold Enter and then press and hold 2 (for about 2 seconds) on the remote to set it to this option. Press Return to move back through the menu or exit the screen. (Panasonic provided this feature for those with several devices so that each remote wouldn't control a nearby device at that frequency.) To get the recorder to respond to the remote, they must be set to the same range. To check, press the Functions button. Under Other Functions > Setup > Remote Control Code, you can adjust the wavelength that the receiver is looking for. (Use the up/down arrows to select a sub-menu and the Enter key to enter the sub-menu. Use the left/right arrows to select options in the secondary menu.) If the unit doesn't respond, try a different wavelength. (Press and hold Enter and then press 1 or 3. There are only three possible options for the remote/receiver.)

For a screen capture of this, see page 19 of the manual; it is available from Panasonic here: http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/DMRES35V.pdf . An original remote is available from Remotes.com: http://remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=Search&o=c&uid=0&m=DMR-ES35VS&uuid=13262363222670 . It probably comes pre-programmed for Remote Code 1.

I hope this helps.

Hi, when i press any key on the dvd recorder remote (panasonic dmr-e55) i comes up with remote dvd 1 everytime and wont do anything else, weve tried umplugging it 2 but that doesnt help, do u have any...

Very easy fix.

Your DVD recorder can be set up to accept remote contol signals on any one of three channels. DVD 1, DVD 2 or DVD 3. Your remote can be set up to send signals on any of these channels. You need to make sure your recorder and remote are set to the same channel.

Your recorder is telling you that it is set to receive remote control signals on channel DVD 1. This means your remote control is currently set for a different channel.

Assuming that you have a genuine Panasonic remote, do the following, On your remote press the "Enter" button and hold it down. Then press the "1" button at the same time for two seconds, then release both. This will change your remote so it sends signals on DVD 1 which will match your recorder.

Those clever people at Panasonic realise that you will be delighted with their products and will probably have several of their appliances in use. The different channels avoids switching all your Panasonic gadgets at the same time. Clever huh?
Best wishes

My panasonic remote won't work. the lcd on the dvd shows set 1 everytime I click on it

I have had this happen nore than once. If you press the 1 button and hold it down. At same time press and hold the enter button for 2 or more seconds. Your remote will now be set to the system. Some models have a device code of 2 or 3. If your not sure what your device code is start with #1 device code.

Download the manual under Operating Instructions.

2. To remedy "SET1" problem, Press 1 & Enter at the same time.

Need help

I have the same model, i pressed Function key(on remote), enter, using up and down arrow keys, select Setup, Remote control code, press 1,2 or 3, then enter. The code on the unit has been set. You must use the same code for the remote control by pressing enter and hold for about 2 seconds at the same time pressing corresponding 1,2 or 3 you selected for unit. This makes the unit and remote compatible with each other. you only change this code if you have other panasonic products that respond to this same remote control. hope that helps.
