This is probably the T-con board and probably not worth fixing. It could be the signal board, missing back lighting, etc but again, probably not worth fixing.

LG 32LH30 LCD TV Problem

IMO Seriously for $119 it's not worth it.
However, it does sound like a capacitor problem
If you are "Serious" about fixing I'd find a TV repair Forum.
Else I'd go here and get a new one.

Sony KP53V15 picture is half on top and half on bottom - what could fix this?

Do you mean it's blank in the middle or blank top and bottom.

Either Vertical o/p problem or cc (closed caption) is on

If cc - check on screen display to turn off cc.

if Vertical o/p read below-

This is an easy repair if you've ever soldered and would not be too costly for a repair shop to do it for you. The problem is a bad Vertical Output IC (usually mounted on an aluminum heat sink with the part on it labeled LA78?? ) and 1 or 2 bad capacitors. Some times you can even fix the problem by re-soldering the contacts of the IC- To find the IC follow the 4 wires that come from the Yoke (which is a contained coil of wires slipped over the neck of the picture tube(s)) back to the board. 2 of the wires go to the horizontal o/p and 2 to the Vertical o/p the thinner gauge wires are for the vertical.

Picture is only in middle of screen, top and bottom of screen is blacked out

If you are watching widescreen format movie or tv programming on a non-widescreen tv, that is how it will appear. The widescreen is a wider picture so to show it on a less wide screen, it has to shrink down to fit. and leave blank space top and botton.

If not, sorry.

Hi there! If picture is smaller top to bottom with blank section on top and bottom then check your aspect ratio settings. If blank at the bottom only the Bottom Y-Drive board may be faulty. If blank at the top The Top Y-Drive may be faulty. If blank on the Left (TOP TO Bottom) then the Right X-Drive Board and on the Right, the Left X-Drive Board. May also be bad connections on the cables or flexible ribbon cables. Best Wishes and Good Luck, JUS004
