You'll need to define lines..and when the lines appear. Do you see them on the start-up screen? Are they defined-fine lines or bold? with a shadow? Is there just a few or are there many lines? What's the make and model?

My InFocus IN76 just started displaying yellow and white dots.

are the dots pixelated or blurred? if they are pixelated, you have a dmd chip issue and will have to replace the whole optical engine. if they are blurred, it is an optics problem, most likely the colorwheel. that can be replaced individually. you can get parts from an infocus service center or send it in to one for repair. either way, try av solutions in ny. they're really good.

Vertical lines on screen regardless of input chosen

Unfortunately this will be a fault with the screen itself & would need to be replaced. There is a slught possibility the LVDS connector that goes from the mian signal board to the screen may have a poor contact. To check this you would need to remove the rear cover & look for a flat cable connector that sits into a socket located in the upper centre of the screen. This usually has a clip on either side of the connector to release it. If you give the contacts a wipe to clean them & then carefully re-connect the cable it may cure the problem, only a small percentage of the time will this be the problem in most cases it is a new screen required.

Screen shows several horizontal and vertical lines.

this can be in your video cable or LCD Connector issue. but most problem is in the flex cable of LCD. some other cases cannot be fix and replace new LCD Screen.

Horizontal bars that rise upwards across the screen

If the bars appear on the screen regardless of the computer connected to the system, then the problem is the LCD itself.
If the issue only occurs connected to a particular system, then the video adapter in the system is bad.

You can also try different calbes and different inputs (DVI, Analog/VGA) and see if there is any difference. Again, if the lines are always there, regardless of input cable or system, then the LCD is failing

You can check with a local TV repair shop about an LCD replacement, or you can check places like EBay for replacement monitors
