Does the play back show any of the pictures you have taken before? are you sure the little lens cover is opening? there is a shield that closes down to keep the lens protected from debris and finger prints. Sometimes they can get jammed and not open. Tap on the front of the lens see if it opens. Switch it to auto mode if its not in auto mode.

If it is loaded and running then that side is OK. It seems to be a firmware breakdown in the scanner. Checkout the makers website

The simple answer for all digital camera users that have installed the supplied software is
Windows can do the job mach better.
The windows camera/scanner wizard asking you what to do- you tell it it does it simple huh!
