Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. First, verify that there is actually no paper jam (open all the doors, take out the paper tray, take out the cartridges and visually inspect). Turn printer off and unplug the printer from all cables (power, USB, etc). Try to hold it upside down and gently shake it so that if there is any paper inside it’s removed. If still it’s not resolved then clean the print head. To clean the print head take a hot water towel with the printer unplugged and the cartridges out, clean it till the time you see there is no ink residue on the towel. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

Well Rylee, it is still reading out, " The following printhead(s) has a problem: black/yellow[K/Y]. "

I did everything you said... there is a small nick on the lower right corner of the paper that wraps around the printhead just above the straight yellow and black lines of ink on the bottom of the printhead. Maybe this is causing an interuption?

I appreciate your help, Scott C

Seems to be the print head that has gone bad and should be replaced.

I had multiple pages jam in the computer and now it is saying there is a problem with the printhead (just the black/yellow one. This is a HP Officejet Pro L7590.

Hi

Thanks for accepting the previous solution Scott. It seems to be the print head that has gone bad and replacing it with a new one will cost you same as a new printer. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

Magenta and cyan will not print on my hp officejet pro L7590 -- it started with a paper jam that was corrected - ever since then only the yellow and black will print on the paper -- printheads are good and...

Same thing happened to my printer hp L7590. Printed diagnostic, only black and yellow printed; diagnostic for printhead health Ky=good, MC= good. Only Hp products ever used. Uplugged, & discharged static, cleaned copper parts of printhead. Still no fix. On visual examination of floor of printhead compartment rectangular pad ( approx 1/4" by 1/2") is missing. I can only guess that during the paper jam, somehow the pad got caught up and went awol. Not sure what to do now.

Officejet Pro L7590 printhead message (printheads only 2m. old)!

Pull out the printhead from the computer and check the date under "warranty ends" If the warranty period did not lapse, call HP technical support and tell them about the problem. They will replace the printhead for free. I have gone through 3 black/yellow printheads and I received the replacement printheads via FedEx within 1-2 days. They will send you a pre-paid envelope to return via U.S. Postal Service via US Postal Service.

If the Warranty date on the printhead expired, then you may have to come out of pocket to replace the printhead since HP will argue that they are not obligated to replace the printhead since the manufacturer warranty lapsed.

If this is the case, check to see when you purchased the printer. If the purchase was within a year, the retailer (i.e. Best Buy) is on the hook since there is a 1 year implied warranty on products such as printers, regardless of whether the expiration date on the HP printhead expired.

Hope this helps

Our printerhead keeps going bad

You should call HP and tell them you need a new printhead. There is a feature in your priter software or in the menu to clean printhead. Try a deep clean.
