Question about Whirlpool GEW9250 Electric Dryer

1 Answer

When I turn the dryer on it sounds like a constant squeek.

The sound is high pitched but I dont believe it is just the belt, sounds like a bearing or a pulley. The noise is louder on the front left of the unit. We purchased it about two years ago.

if its a high pitched squeek its a short in the deflection circuit, a common failure part here was the high voltage transformer.

Ge frontloader dryer is squeeking incessantly, high pitch squeek driving us all crazy. by manually turning the drum i can isolate the squeek, but cannot see anything wrong. does it need to be taken...

There is a teflon bearing that holds the back of the drum you will need to replace. To get to it remove the top cover, take off the control panel, remove the front cover, take off the belt, then take the drum out, ususlly by lifting it up as you pull it foward. While have it all apart I would reccomend replacing the teflon glides at the front that the drum rides on.

Dryer making a high pitch squeeling sound when

The idler bearing that keeps tension on the belt is going out due to heat leaching the grease out of it. Have it replaced.

The dryer squeeks a very high pitch sound when it is running

likely needs oiling on the main bearings? or in the electric motor? or the belt is worn out; not likely with a newer drier. Tear it apart and WD40 works great.

My dryer is making a high pitch squeeking noise but it still dries.

You likely have an idler wheel that is dry. The idler wheels are what supports the drum and allows it to turn freely. There may also be a belt tension problem. If the belt is too lose, it can slip on the motor, causing a squeal as well. First thing to do is pull the housing off, and see exactly where sound is coming from.

Squeeks loadly when running

The drum belt is slipping or a support wheel bearing is worn.  Spray some belt dressing on the belt or replace the belt.  Lubricate the wheel bearing or replace it.  It is also possible that the seal between the drum and the housing (at the back) is worn and the drum is rubbing metal-to-metal on the housing.

Dryer modle #lde9334ace making noise

More than likely it is the belt. A simple fix is to spray some belt dressing on the belt. However, changing the belt would be the best solution. Good luck.
