Raid 1 Degraded error message

Changed motherboard from M2N-PV-VM to a M2N-VM-DVI. When I rebooted the system I got the Raid is Degraded message. Selected the disk from the F10 dialog box and Windows starts for about 1-2 seconds and then does a reboot.

One of the options for the RAID 1 is to build a new RAID. Does anyone know if this will wipe out the existing Windows install and all my files?

I have a backup drive but I dont want to reinstall all my software.

SOURCE: Asus A8N SLI RAID showing both drives as "degraded"

This problem usually occurs if: 1) The computer never finished booting 2) A sticky button on you keyboard (F8 or Control Key for win98) 3) Less Memory for windows xp and ME. Try checking if all the memories as well fixed on the board and are being read. 4) Corrupt system files. 5) Incorrect bios configuration (Try changing the bios settings to optimum performance of fail safe to confirm that. All the best.

SOURCE: raid 1 problem

When you are booting your machine, notice the prompt to press keys to get into your RAID controller. Press them and get in. You have to tell it that you want to use that new drive to rebuild your array. You really wouldn't want it any other way. Then when you boot windows it will be able to rebuild it and the message should become one of happiness, given adequate time to rebuild.

if this is the case there is no-other way to fix it.

CMOS Checksum error.

the only thing i can think of is when you changed the battery somehow the board terminals positive negative are not in proper contact with battery
did you try resetting bios by the pins on the motherboard
somewhere on the board is printed bios reset or words to the effect
most times it is a 2 pin connector with a jumper only on 1 pin connect the jumper across both pins remove and try to reboot
hope this helps
