This means the drivers for the vga or video card for that matter is corrupted or not installed. Reinstalling should solve the problem. Below is the website to download drivers for your dell pc.
good luck

Running in safe mode as normal start up is really slow or does not load.

Follow this trick to fix infected Laptop:

Disable Unwanted Programs from Running at Windows Startup
Running too many programs at the Windows startup reduces the system performance. To speed up Windows 7, you have to disable the unwanted third-party programs from running at Windows startup.

  • Click Start ' Type MsConfig and press ENTER
  • Click Startup tab.
  • Uncheck the entries of the programs that you do not wish to run at system startup.
  • Click Apply.
  • Do the same for the entries in the Services tab.
  • Click Apply ' OK.
  • Restart the computer when prompted.

To fix this problem instantly use PCFresher system utility.

My dell laptop has a black screen after startup i have run a preboot system assessment and nothing helps. How do i get back to Windows

Hello tnmwood,
Since you didn't mention an error message, So it boots normally(seeing white text on a black background) until it starts to load windows.
After starting the computer hit f8 repeatedly a few times a second, until a list of options appears, select "last known good configuration"
If that doesn't make any difference, repeat process and select safe mode. If you can reach the desktop in safe mode its most likely the Video driver which you can delete in device manager. Restart windows and let it install a generic driver, from there you can go to the dell website and download the newest drivers for your laptop.
If none of the following has helped, hook your laptop up to another monitor, and start it you can get to the desktop it most likely is the screen which would need replaced.
Hopefully this has helped

Dell Inspiron 1525 Error Code 0333 Blue Screen of Death:)

Hello

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware and software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware/software, disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing your computer, press F8 to slct Advanced Startup options, and then select safe mode

it could be a memory (RAM) problem. Many Dell's have a Diagnostic partition on the Hard Drive, accessed by F12 at initial boot up. If yours has this, run a complete diagnostic and see if there are any errors.

Try to reboot in safe mode using "last working configuration" and do an evaluation and see what comes up

Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop. Blue Screen

Dear, Requested data was not in memory. An invalid system memory address was referenced. Defective memory (including main memory, L2 RAM cache, video RAM) or incompatible software (including remote control and antivirus software) might cause this Stop message, as may other hardware problems. What you can do is if you have more than one memory modules, you can boot the system with single and see. If this is due to memory leakage issue, you can find it here

Hi,
Pressing F8 during startup, just after the BIOS screen, will give you the
safe mode menu, including the option to create a '%windir%/ntbtlog.txt'
bootlog file
or you can try to restore xp:

Dell Inspiron 600m not starting up!

I had this same problem with my 600m laptop.  How many times do the lights flash, before they stop flashing?

Cause: There is a physical problem with the computer that it is detecting at startup diagnostics.

Solution:
You should have two pieces of RAM installed. Carefully, remove the memory slot cover.  Swap the 2 pieces of memory you have in there (please follow memory installation and removal for laptops to the letter, by never touching any of the electronic contacts and handling the memory from its sides). Make sure, they sit in the slot properly (to the best you can see). Then, place back the memory cover, very carefully, and screw in.  If you see the memory door cover not closing properly, the RAM might be improperly inserted.  Please go back to the swapping of RAM step. :)

If this didn't work, 1 of the 2 RAM's you have are no longer functioning properly. Please follow the steps to openning the memory door again and remove RAM in "B" slot first.  Then close it and try to start the computer.

If it still doing the same light flashes, open the memory door and remove RAM in slot "A".  then place the RAM you removed from slot "B" into slot "A".  Then start the computer again.

Dell inspiron 1525 not enough memory?

hi jerry.... its not the problem with charger cord... and it should not be the problem with mother board too. its probably due to more programmes installed on C drive and computer is trying to load more programmes into memory while startup...

switch on the computer and keep tapping F8 key continuously on keyboard.. (stop tapping when you look at advanced boot options)..

select the option safe mode... and hit enter.. you will reach to desktop in safe mode... then
start -> run -> type msconfig and enter
select startup tab -> click disable all..
and apply. ok. then try restarting computer.... even if it exists.... go to safe mode again... and try un-installing un necessary softwares which you dont require.....
