The door on my Maytag MAH2400 will not unlock. I have tried shutting off power to no avail. There is a throw rug in the washer that looks like it is caught in the door. Is there a manual release that will allow me to open the door.

Power up than shut down. Door ill unlock

Looks like power supply problem. Check your plugs for correct tightness. The switch also.

To unlock the door, follow these instructions: 1) unplug the power cord 2) shut off all water connections and remove hoses from source.
3) unscrew the metal access panel on the back side of the touch pad console on the back/top of the unit.
4) unplug the white, three pin connector(red, blue, & yellow wires that are in this order from left-to-right when looking from the back of the washer to the front)
5) plug the power cord into the wall receptacle
6) press the "delicates" & "heavy soil" buttons at the same time for 3 seconds(this puts the unit into the "service mode"
7) press the "extra rinse" button(this will UNLOCK the door Note: I am sending this to MAYTAG as well, although they and their lousy service system and their authorized service affiliates would not even think of offering such emergency help on any web site ....xkellyx

When you removed that clog after the pump you should have gotten very very wet if that was the only clog.
 You will have to bail the water out of the tub or pull it out with a shop vac,and even then when you remove the other side of the hose on the pump you'll get a couple gallons of water coming at you,throw some towels over the motor control on the right front corner so it doesn't get wet and have more ready for the gush of water coming out.
 Throw rugs were notorious for clogging these hoses up also check the out going hose from the pump to the drain,if you have the heavy rubber hose run something through it to make sure it is cleared out.
 and if it was throw rugs your going to want to fill it and drain it several times when you get it draining again to make sure it is all cleared out of the machine,if it drains into a standpipe be careful it doesn't clog your pipes that stuff is like cement.

Not draining,throw rugs tend to clog this unit as do bobby pins and under wires I'm giving you a link to the repair manual it covers the 3000 through 5500 it will help you get the door open and the clothes out so you can start bailing...

Try using some J.B. Weld on it instead of glue. It will essential form a weld and should hold up better. You might want to give that a try. Good luck and best wishes.

I would recommend whirlpool since they bought out maytag .They are a great for support and warranty:)

Open the detergent dispenser door on top of mach. There you will find a small yellow nylon cord, pull on the cord and the door should open

Make sure all connections are secure. My coins sheared the blades off the pumpe and it had to be replaced...more than a few coins to replace :(

As for the user whose machine will not drain and sounds as though a chain is clanking, the solution is probably a coin caught in the drain pump. I just had the same problem. Access the pump from the bottom of the machine. 4 screws hold the mounting bracket on undo those, the electrical connection and two hose to the pump. Undo three screws holding impeller to motor and coin can fall out. Examine for damage if it is not too tore up, put back together. Keep in mind that when you unclamp the hoses that water will come out.
