WHICH BUTTONS DO I PRESS TO FORCE THE DISH DRAWER TO DRAIN EXCESS WATER?

Posted by on

  • ralexander_a Jul 04, 2010

I DO NOT HAVE A KINKED HOSE AND THE MACHINE IS FINE. A LARGER AMOUNT OF WATER SEEMS TO SOMETIMES REMAIN IN THE TOP DISHDRAWER AND IT WAS SUGGESTED BY MY SERVICE TECHNICIANS THAT THE MACHINE IS WORKING PERFECTLY BUT THIS MIGHT BE DUE MY SIMULTAEOUS USE OF THE NEARBY SINK OR WASTE DISPOSAL WHICH CAUSES THE PIPES TO BE 'OVERLOADED' SO SUFFICIENT WATER IS NOT PUMPED OUT OF THE DISHDRAWER. I AM AFTER THE BUTTON KEY CODES THAT THE TECHNICIAN USES TO FORCE THE MACHINE TO DRAIN WATER. THAT IS WHAT I NEED. CAN YOU PROVIDE THAT?

  • ralexander_a Jul 05, 2010

There is no button labeled drain -- there is 1)power on/off 2) start/stop and 3) lock. inside there is a button to choose the cycle (heavy pots/ regular/ glasses/ rinse/ etc).

I need to know from someone who actually knows the Fisher and Paykel machine dd6031 double dishdrawer what the series of technician button presses is that will force the machine to drain excess water. There is nothing wrong with the hose -- the water remains according to my service technicians probably when we use the nearby sink at the same time as the machine is trying to drain. I just want to press the correct buttons to force the machine to drain.

    Thank you.

Just run the shortest wash cycle and check if it empties in the end. If not, then you have some blockage in the filter sump.

Go to the part of the user guide which explains how to clean drain filter and filter plate.

Hope this solves the problem.

Sorry did not get to see your earlier comments to another fixya.com consultant previously.

What you need is to go into diagnostic mode and run the Fast Cycle as there is no drain cycle available.

Press and hold Keylock, then Start/Pause for 5 seconds

All LEDs & LCD segments except Keylock are illuminated

    Press Power Button Twice

FC will show in the display ( for integrated: Heavy, Normal, Delicate, Rinse LEDs showing)

    Press Start/Pause Twice

The 5 minute fast test cycle will start

    Press Power
    To exit

Hope this achieves what you are after.

Hello. There is usually a button labeled drain. Push it and let it work. Then open the door and check. If there is still water that is an indication that there is a problem. Usually, debris stuck in the drain pump, the drain hose, or the sink trap. Last week I had a dishwasher call and discovered a chunk of glass in the drain pump. That glass was too large to get through the pump and resulted in an inch or so of water remaining in the floor of the dishwasher. Once I removed that chunk of glass the problem was solved. J.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Press the cancel/drain button to drain the excess water. If the dishwasher is still not draining properly or not draining at all issues can arise due to different reasons. Usually, these issues are related to kinked hoses, knocked out disposer unit (if connected with the dishwasher drain hose) & clogged drain pump & filter. Also note that dishwashers do not drain completely after a finished cycle and this is normal. Dishwashers are designed to leave some water in the unit to ensure that the heating element doesn’t overheat. If you suddenly begin to experience a large amount of water being retained in your dishwasher, you have a problem. Some of the most common reasons include that the drain hose isn’t working properly, the drain pump isn’t working correctly, or possibly there is a plumbing problem in your home’s drain lines. First check whether the drain is not clogged or blocked and the line is not kinked. Check all the hoses for blockages & also clean the air gap. If you have checked the drain hose and can’t locate the problem, then it is an issue with the drain pump of the dishwasher. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Water in crisper drawer of Whirlpool model number ET18TK

the water in the bottom of the fridge will be from condensate running down the back wall and not collecting in the drain ridge to flow outside to the dish on top of the compressor. It comes from overloading the fridge by opening the door too often and excess food trying to cool down. check and unplug any blockages in the drain and pull any containers away from the back wall as water will flow off the wall onto them and miss the drain all together. The drain ridge will be under 1/2 way down the back

I have the fisher and paykel dish drawer DD630 and on both of the dish drawers the F-1 signal is flashing... and will not shut off. I do not know where my power supply is..I thought i would take all...

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa.
F1 error means that the flood switch has been activated. You'll need to reset it by powering off the breaker or by unplugging the unit from the power socket and mains for more than five minutes. Please check that there is no blockage in the drain hose and it is not raised higher otherwise the water will run back to the dishwasher. Also perform the following procedure---

    • Unplug power and remove bottom dish drawer
    • Use a Sponge and dry all the excess water underneath
    • Remove circuit board cover
    • Dry all around and underneath as much as possible
    • Apply hairdryer for 10-15min

Water will not drain out of top drawer

To determine if your pump work, before attempting access from the bottom of the top drawer: You can manually pump the water out by doing the following:
1- Press the Power button to turn off the display.
2- Press the Lock button and then the start button the same tim. Hold them until the display showing up.
3- If the display is not clear with all the characters, press power button to see clear the display.
4- The first display is bL, then Er,Ld..dd, FU, P1, P2...by pressing the Start button to go by the sequence until P2 (drain). If you miss, be patient to continue press and release the start button to get back to P2.
5 When is is at P2, press Lock button to tun on the drain. When you hear the water flowing to the drain, you could pull the top drain to see how the water is draining.
6- When the water is out, press the lock button again to stop it.
7-When it is done, press the Power button to get out of manual mode.

If this is working, then your water is there because you are running the bottom and your air gap allow back flow to the top drawer.
Please let me know if this is not the case.

Water in top drawer

I am not a repairman but have installed several duel drawer dishwashers. Most dishwashers have a check valve preventing backflow. Water under pressure will always follow the path of least resistance and in your case it is going into the upper drawer. Be sure the drain is open and flowing easily under your sink whether that be the disposal or a TEE. It may help if the drain line is elevated as high as it can go under the sink just before it reaches the drain. How often do you use the top drawer? Perhaps run a cycle on the hottest cycle without dishes to attemt to clean or force through any contaminants in the check valve through into the drain. Hope this helps, Ken
