Despite uninstalling programs from the C drive on my Acer Aspire 1352XC and using disc cleaner, I keep getting notices that I'm at the limit of acceptable free space on the drive. Regards, Julian Gillespie

I uninstalled with the add/remove programs. I have 8.84GB total capacity with 8.81GB used and
and 242MB free. Sorry but I don't understand the meaning of partition.

Chances are there are other files especially on the registry that needs to be deleted, how did you uninstall software? did you remove it from add/remove programs? the best way to uninstall applications or programs is by uninstalling from add/remove programs, or you can use the uninstaller for the programs that you loaded on your computer, if issue persist you can reformat your harddrive but make sure you create backup files for important files that you have.

How many Gigs do you have on your HDD? How many free space and used space? Is it on partition?

Partition is if you divided the HDD memory in two drives, seems what you have is an old HDD, suggestion is for you to upgrade your HDD to a larger capacity in which your computer can handle. But these low capacity HDD i think are obsolete already. You can remove files from registry and temp folders if you want to free the memory of your HD.

It's a free program that will scan your drive and show you the largest files. If you have some big files that are taking up lots of space, this program will help you find and delete them to free up more space.

If you've already deleted everything you can, then it sounds like you've simply outgrown the space on your hard drive. You should buy a USB drive and start archiving data on this second drive, to free up space for your computer to use on the internal drive.

When you do a Disk cleanup you can go to more options tab and then choose clean up under system restore and shadow copies. You will recover a large amount of space but you will loose your last saved restore point. If you don't need that then please go ahead. And you can also use the tree size software but use that only if you have XP not VISTA.

I am having intense issues with startup repair

Hello. you can go to Programs and Features from the Control Panel and start deleting (uninstalling) all the tool bars and junk programs that are on your computer. That would make a difference but if I were you I would start backing up all the pictures, documents and anything else important to you. Depending on how much data you need to remove from your computer will determine If you want to use discs or an external hard drive. Then you can use your recovery discs and format your hard drive. Good Luck

Keeps checking file system on C: the type of the file system is FAT32

This can be a wake up call, to start backing your data up.
Your hard drive may be about to fail, or your Windows installation is in bad condition.
First back up all your important files ( DVD or external HD/usb drive )
Run your system tools ( Right click on C: drive / properties / tools, tick all the boxes and see if it can fix your problems)
Download CCleaner and run the cleaner and registry cleaner.
You can also delete unwanted restore points and remove un needed startup items
Defragment your drives, either windows built in, or use a 3rd party program, I use Auslogics Defrag (free).
Run a Malware scanner, I use Malwarbytes (Free)
If your still having disc check problems, its time for a new hard drive

Used once, played movie then next time it was looking for update. Even if your answer is no, it still wont play, just keeps on asking. Can I switch this off?

About 9 months ago I purchased an Acer Aspire. But until now I never used the blu-ray drive. When I first used it, the disc performed ok. But the very next time that I used it, it refused to play. A notice came up as below.
“A critical component of the player requires periodic updates. New movies could fail to play if the critical component is not updated promptly. Would you like to update now? [YES] or[ NO]”
Now, whenever either button is selected, the screen changes as though the disc is going to be played. But then up pops the notice again! This keeps on happening time after time! So I decided to update the program that runs movies etc.
In Acer Arcade Deluxe version [1.14 .6907] I did a live update. And then I tried a Blu-ray disc. The notice came up and I clicked on YES and Internet Explorer started up and was taken to the Cyberlink .com site. A notice came up with the link to update as needed. After the download I minimised Explorer and found the download ready to install. Eventually I tried the disc and it ran ok, with small skips all the way through the movie. I now probably need to look into the buffering of the disc. But at least it works now.
I hope this may be of use to others.
Brian Stallard.

install another window which will help it to work perfect and most improtant dont let your window to update it self turn off the updates when you let the window to update it install some file that you even don't need . it make you computer slow too.

Ok that is just a program that comes with the Acer laptops, it really is Useless and I dont use it on my computer, its part of the acer e management , e recovery, and etc programs that acer made. To fix this you can uninstall it under the ADD/remove programs or if you want to keep it you can then goto the acer website and under support put your model number in and download that particular software again and it might fix itself if there where some type of missing files on that particular software. Secondly if this is a vista machine it could be the software is not compatible and it causes the OS to crash which then comes with that error to the user and never goes away . Hope my answer gets you closer to a solution.
