Hello,
you did not specify the model and make of the player, but I'm assuming its a DVD recorder, if not, please let me know.
Get a DVD Rewrite-able disc. The DVD RW disc let your delete stuff at your disc and reburn it, the
DVD R can only burn once. I recommend using the DVD RW for if your
going to be editing, or copying a tv show and delete later, they are
more expensive. If you record a movie on a DVD RW, edit out commercial
on your computer, then you can burn it onto a DVD-R disc to save money
since you know you are not going to burn over it.
So you got your dvd recorder and black dvd disc. Put the
Power cord in the power socket. Remember when you are using a dvd
recorder you are recording using your RCA connector(White/Yellow/Red
Cord). That wire will be connected to the main system then into the
back of your tv, you do not need to have an HD tv, it just has to have
the ports on the back.
Turn on your dvd recorder, go to the right tv source on your
tv, most likely AV 1 or AV 2. Once you got that, then you got to make
sure your device is on, lets say your direct tv reciever, then go to
your dvd recorder channel, and switch to the direct tv source. Then
just press record button on your player.
You can also record from one DVD player to another DVD recorder. Follow the steps below:
Connect the DVD player's output to the recorder's input, using the
cable connection that both devices share. HDMI (High Definition
Multimedia Interface) is best, followed by RCA component, S-video and
RCA composite. DVD players rarely use coaxial.
Link the DVD recorder's output to your TV set, once again using the
best cable connection both devices share. With an older model TV that
has only a coaxial connection, you might need a composite-to-coaxial
adapter.
Make sure the DVD player, recorder and TV set are plugged in. Insert
the DVD you want to record from into the DVD player and tune the TV to
the input channel with which it is connected to the recorder. Play the
DVD and make sure it can be seen on the TV.
Insert a recordable DVD into the recorder. Set the DVD player to Play and the recorder to Record.
Stop the recording and restart it any time you want to create a new
"chapter" on the DVD. If you choose not to do this, most DVD recorders
will automatically make index marks every five minutes or so. These
index marks will allow you to skip ahead with the "Next" button
whenever you play the recorded disc.
Good luck.
Hello,
The DVD player is not recognizing the empty disc that you inserted into it, that's why the record button will not respond. Also, there are some DVD plates that some player does nor recognize, such as, DVD RW + or DVD RW -. Therefore, you need to get the right empty disc for your player.
So, crosscheck your connections first, then second, try to record with two different empty discs as you might get the exact disc that will work for your player.
Use a RCA (red white and yellow) cord to connect from the sony camcorder "OUT" to "IN" of your DVD recorder or use the DVI connection on the DVD player. Then get a DVD RW Disc empty disc, insert it into the player. Press Source on the DVD player to the camcorder input, then press record.
Good luck.
