Dear binghau:

The surefire way to have the date show on your pictures is to set your camera's resolution to PostCard Mode and thus record the date stamp on the picture itself. Your ZoomBrowser software, however can put the date on each of your images. I am using ZoomBrowser EX ver 5.8 as an example. If yoiur version if different it will still have similar functionality.

You can rename image files using four different naming schemes:

1. Image Name + Number (e.g. Vacation_001.jpg)
2. Shooting date + Number (e.g. 20080601_001.jpg)
3. Name + Shooting date + Number OR
4. Shooting date + Name + Number

You may choose to do either method 2 or 4 to get the date.

To rename selected images or a group of images using one of the above naming schemes simply open ZoomBrowser and point it to the folder that contains the images you wish to rename. For this example let's assume it was your recent vacation photos.

I would utilize either Zoom or Scroll mode to view the images on the main screen. Then follow these steps:

1. Click the task panel labeled "View & Classify"
2. Next click the sub panel "Rename Multiple Files"
3. On the left hand panel click Step 1 "Select images"
[Here you can select any or all images in the folder]
4. Next click Step 2 "Specify Rename Settings"
5. Select the way you want the files to be named and enter
the appropriate settings. Note: If you wish to keep the original
file and make a copy with the new naming scheme make
sure you check "Make Copies of files"
6. Lastly click Finish and your newly renamed files will be there
in the folder.

Hopes this helps.

Sincerely,
HeavyDLB

Have you looked in "my computer"? It may show up as a removable drive. If it doesn't, try using a card reader to download your pics.

How do I set a Canon PowerShot S3 IS so the date appears on the photo when I download it and/or print it?

The date and time (and a lot more) are stored with every picture in its EXIF metadata. Any photo viewing/editing program should be able to display this data. To print this data, please consult the documentation for whatever program you're using to print your pictures. Depending on the program and printer you may print the date on the image, in the margins, or on the back.

Zoombrowser not working- not able to download RAW images to computer

Make sure you turned the camera on. Could be a bad cable. Best thing to get is a usb card reader. Some people report problems of bent pins because of removing and reinserting them in the camera. So be careful there. Re-Install the software that came with it from Canon. Or you can download it from CanonUSA. URL below.

choose your OS and download what you need.
Looks like ZoomBrowser is up to 6.1 now.

How do you set the image's filename to automatically include timestamp and date

Dear jeannesc:

I am assuming that you are using ZoomBrowser EX ver 5.8 which comes with the SD750's Digital Camera Solutions disc. Therefore these instruction will pertain to that version of the program.

You can rename image files using four different naming schemes:

1. Image Name + Number (e.g. Vacation_001.jpg)
2. Shooting date + Number (e.g. 20080601_001.jpg)
3. Name + Shooting date + Number OR
4. Shooting date + Name + Number

There isn't a provision for a time stamp naming convention.

To rename a group of images using one of the above naming schemes simply open ZoomBrowser and point it to the folder that contains the images you wish to rename.

Cannot Download pictures from camera to computer

There are numerous solutions for importing digital pictures from your camera to your hard drive. You can use Windows Explorer. By doing this, u maintain complete control over where ur digital images are stored on the computer. If you prefer to use an external application, Google's Picasa remains the best solution available. In addition to being a convenient way to manage your images, Picasa also includes common photo editing functions, supports some of the best photo organization works with low level photo data from your camera, and assists in uploading images to the Web or creating slideshows on your local system. Picasa uses the timeline features that shows when images were taken in relation to all your other images (which only works if your digital camera is set to the correct date). Picasa is free for Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Linux.

Date / Time printed on image?

There are some third-party software programs that will extract the date/time info from your EXIF data stored in the images and apply them to the image for printing. There are a couple threads here and on dpreview.com about them. You can also use the ZoomBrowser software that came with your A80 to do some limited date/time printing for specific images. It's not the standard format (uses a box w/ drop shadow) but it is another option.
