Question about Danby DPR2262 Top Freezer Refrigerator

Open Question

Danby DPR 2260-2 will not cool sufficiently

I have a Danby Fridge which works fine in the winter months but now that it is summer, it has trouble cooling enough. The ambient outside temperature is about 16 to 24 C. I've cleaned the chimney, the back of the frigdge and pipes etc. The flame is good strong and blue. I tried to invert, tap the pipes and let stand upright before start up. Not much success. After 12hrs of running it is still marginaly better then 16 C for the fridge and 4 C for the freezer.
Any ideas?

SOURCE: Freezer works fridge not cooling on a Danby Designer fridge

There should be a vent between the freezer compartment and the fridge. In order for the fridge to be cold, this has to be open so that cold air can cool the fridge. I'm not sure, but I'm guessing that on that model it is simply a mechanical door operated by a dial. so you need to open any covering sheilds and make sure that the door (the damper actually) is open, and that air is blowing through. Granted, you don't want it open too wide, because then you will have two freezer sections, so you might have to experiment with it.

There is a fan in the freezer that should be pushing air... on some models the fan stops when the freezer door opens, so check holding down the door switch.

heavier oils are fine in warm summer months, 10W30 or 10W40-
all cars ran on these oils summer or winter for years. Newer vehicles are designed for 5W oils and you should use a 5W oil for them in the winter months

Make sure the condenser fan underneath the unit is running when the compressor is. I don't know what else it could be unless the door gaskets are in bad shape.

Is there a condensate trap in the line before the discharge?
Also is the orifice or near it cracked?
With all the movement and expansion and contraction due to the temperature changes in the seasons and conditions, there might be a crack somewhere else.
Be ready with a Wax Ring for a toilet ( a new one ).
They usually seal it up fairly well.
Works for me until I can get a new pan.
God Bless.

I contacted the Danby Co. and found out the unit was still under warranty. They gave me the name of a local repair shop who replaced the float sensor "free of charge".
Thank you for your time and interest. If I have another problem later I will be in touch with you.

Refrigerator won't work after winter shut down at camp

This is a problem we frequently run into in a situation such as yours. Refrigerators are meant to be used in continuous operation. Using them seasonally will let the high side condenser tubing, internal to most cabinets, rust through and loose the refrigerant charge.
