Question about Computers & Internet

Help. I have a Belkin Wireless G Router safely installed and functioning with a laptop running XP. However, I also have a Belkin Wireless G USB Network adapter that was safely running a desktop with Windows 2000. Printers were unplugged as was the network adaptor in a move round and in an intended attempt to network the printers. This was quickly abandoned but now there is no way the adapter will connect the desktop. It had lost its drivers which I have now reinstalled from the installation cd ie I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. I have set the network profile back up BUT it just says network cable unplugged which of course is rubbish as it is wireless

Is the wireless network adapter driver installed on your pc? if its properly installed you have to reconfigure the wireless network adapter to your belkin router.
wireless usb adapter should obtain the ip address from your belkin router

I'm trying to install the Belkin router and I get an error

If the cable is too long from the MAIN phone socket you won't get the signal to your router. You set the router as close as poss to the MAIN phone socket i.e. 2 to 5meters away. Then use a wireless adapter connected in your desktop USB socket.Use the adapter disc to set it up.This receives the signal from your router and installs it into the USB port.

My netgear usb connects to my wireless belkin..but no internet ?

this message comes when your computer is not getting the IP address from the router.
There are possible reasons for that.
1. DHCP on the router may be disabled.
2. If your network is secured , then you might not be typing the correct network key.

In both the cases , you will need to check the settings of the router.
You will need to access the router set up.

D-Link wireless router and Belkin Wireless G USB Network adapter

Set your wireless network as a preferred network and to automatically connect to it. Also set it at the top of the list so that it takes precedence. If you continue to get conflicts, change the channel of the router.
