I have a samsung 403t flat screen monitor. It's a few years old but it still works very well. I have a very good picture , but i can't get any sound. I have it hooked up to an high definition cable box with an HDMI cord . I have two computer speakers hooked up to it , but still no sound. The volume on the cable box and monitor have both been turned up and still nothing. Help !

Hello,

the fault should be from the sound IC of your TV. But before I conclude on that, get a earphone and fix it into the earphone jack of the TV. If there is no sound from the hear phone, the believe me, there is a problem with the sound IC/chip of the TV.

You need to dismantle the TV, get a meter, read the sound IC of the TV to confirm if the IC is actually bad or not. if its bad, then you will have to replace it.

Also, I have seen some Samsung TV's that has "Speaker Off" check the sound settings of your TV and make sure the speaker settings is not off.

If it ends up that the sound IC is faulty and you cannot do the replacement yourself, maybe you should visit the nearest repairman to fix it for you.

I wish you good luck.

I fix personal computers as a side job . so i'm hoping that replacing the sound ic chip won't be that far out of my range of expertise. Where can i find the the sound ic chip and about how much does it cost?

Samsung 403T no power

1) Fuse is good?
2) You must have 5vdc stanby voltage the minute you plug the set into the wall, this is a must have before going further. Please look for that first, then report back what you find. Pictures and Sch will be a great help. See example of my pictures here: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

My samsung syncmaster 941 bw just went white screen

Hello,

It sounds like you have a monitor with a common problem. After a few years some LCD monitors will blow a power supply. The problem is caused by parts called capacitors overheating in the confined space of the monitor. If you are good at electronics repair/soldering you can usually fix the problem. Check out a few pictures on my web site www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm You can take the back cover off your monitor and look for the bad parts, replace any that look like the pictures and your monitor should work fine. The capacitors do need to be installed with the correct + and - connections, note the stripe on the old one and insert the new one the same way. If you don't want to try the repair yourself we offer a repair service for $35 plus shipping.

I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.
