If the orange glow is coming from the right hand side (as viewed from the REAR of the dryer), that would be the heating element. The element is supposed to glow, but not continuously. It should cycle on and off as the thermostats regulate the drum temperature based on your dryer settings. If you are experiencing any problems, such as longer dry times, or poor drying efficiency, you may want to check the dryer interior cabinet and/or the entire exhaust ducting from where it exits your dryer to the point where it leaves your home to ensure you have no kinks or clogs. The following link explains many of the common problems that can cause poor drying efficiency and longer dry times:

Before assuming you have a problem with the appliance, check your installation to ensure you are providing the dryer with proper exhaust and air flow. A dryer in a clogged state or having improper air flow will not dry efficiently and will cause the heating circuits to overheat. This will make the dryer seem hotter than its supposed to be and eventually can lead to component failures and is the source of many fire hazards.

If the problem is not heating element related, please stop using the dryer and UNPLUG it. Remove the cover where the power cord is installed and ensure all the connections are snug and the wires are not burned. Post back and let me know if you need further assistance. I hope you find this information helpful.

LG Trom gas dryer dlg5988B got under water 10 inch. The motor is running, just the gas heater does not burn. Computer is working right. Any idea?

Take top off, start drying cycle and see if you can see an orange glow on bottom right front of unit-the Glow plug igniter. If it glows, then you have a different issue. If no orange glow, replace igniter.

Kenmore 700 series dryer problems

This could be a few things. The first thing to check is your dryers vent, make sure its not clogged and check were it exits the house because sometimes nest are made in them. A clogged vent will prevent proper drying because the moisture can not escape and/or the heating element turns off due to overheating.
If the vent is clear, with dryer empty open the door and hold down the door switch (button that tells dryer door is closed) and turn on dryer, as its running watch the back area of drum were the vent with little holes is, within a few seconds you should start to see an orange glow in that area. If the orange glow starts then disappears within a few seconds it means your vent is clogged, if there is no orange glow at all then you have either a bad heating coil or bad high limit switches. I believe youtube has great how to videos on how to replace them, its not that hard if you have basic repair skills. Hope this helps you and your able to get it drying agian

Kenmore dryer. Glowing orange inside rear vent. Outside dryer very hot. Ideas?

the orange glowing is the element, since there are safety features on the dryer I would not worry about the glowing as they are coils and glow. I would probably clean the dryer inside and out off all lint, thus ensuring that the air flow for the dryer is not restricted. Hope this helps Tim

Maytag dryer runs but doesn't heat up

1. Open the small access door in front of the dryer and start the heat cycle. The ignitor must glow a bright orange so that it is hot enough to light the gas. If there is no orange glow, then the ignior needs replacement.
2. If it glows then cuts off, then glows, again and cuts off, the thermocouple sensor wire is out of position. It needs to be very, very close to the ignitor. This thermocouple sends a temperature signal when it senses that the ignitor is hot enough to ignite the gas. Unplug the dryer. Re-position the thermocouple wire mount so that the thermocouple wire is almost touching the ignitor. You may also "bend" the wire. Plug power back on and heat.
3. If it still does not heat, then the automatic gas valve that is controlled by the thermocouple sending unit is broken. The automatic gas valve cannot be safely "fixed" and must be replaced.
Hope it's just the thermocouple wire.
