Question about Hansgrohe 32020001 Talis S Single-Hole Lavatory Faucet - Chrome

1 Answer

I have a leaky faucet. I've shut the water off, removed the chrome cover over the control stem handle, but I'm stumped. How do you remove the brass fitting that holds the control assembly in place? I don't have a crescent wrench small enough to get under the handle to loosen the nut. At least that's how I thought I needed to fix it. There's some slotted hole on the side of the stem, but I can't see inside it to know if that has anything to with the problem. Any ideas?

Normally there is an allen wrench that unscrews to allow the top to come off the control valve you can go to a home depot and show them the vavle repair you have to get the right allen wrench if you don't have the right one. normally they are 1/16 of an inch in diameter.there are three O-rings that can leak the barrel O-ring 2 of them and then the small o rigs for allowing the hot or cold to come out of with a spring on the inside of the barrel. let me know if you need more help.

Replace ceramic disk cartridge

First shut off water to the faucet. Most faucets have a screw on each hot and cold handle, remove the screw, then remove the handle. Now you should see a large Nut around the faucet stem, remove the nut, then the stem can be removed. Depending on the faucet you have, the ceramic disk can be replaced. Most faucet companies give a lifetime warranty on the disk, so you can order a new one for free if you have the warranty papers of the faucet, if not, you can usually get new parts on line, or at a plumbing store.

Not getting any cold water just hot water

One thing you can do to determine if this problem can be solved by installing a new cartridge. That is what I think you need to do. This won't take much time and it's easy to do.
Remove center cover on the handle and remove the screw that holds the handle on. You do not have to turn the water off as all you are going to do is remove the handle.Take handle off and note the position of the stem. It has two flat surfaces on it so it is easy to mark one, then turn stem 180 degrees from where it was. Put handle back on and try it. If you now have cold water but no hot then you need to replace the cartridge. If you do need to replace the cartridge I would get the brass one instead of the plastic. I know the plastic are much cheaper but I have much better results with the brass. thank you

Low pressure on hot water side

I would recommend that you replace cartridge. To do this shut off water supply to tub or whole house as needed, Remove valve handle cover, remove handle screw and pull off handle. Remove chrome cover from around valve body. There is a small brass or copper clip that fits on front side of cartridge to hold it in place. Carefully remove this clip as you will need it for reassembly. Grasp end of valve stem with pliers and gently try to pull cartridge ftom valve body, If it is stuck you can purchace a moen cartridge puller at most hardware stores. Follow directions on how to use puller, remove old cartridge, install new one . install clip moving cartridge slihtly to proper position so retainer clip will slid into position. replace chrome cover and handle and screw and cover. Turn water back on and you should be done. Hope this helps. Thanks

Hard to pull up handle

Are you asking about faucet handle or pop up drain . If you are referring to faucet handle the easiest thing to try first is to remove center cover from top of handle. It's the one with the moen insignia or name on it. These are usually just a friction fit so use a small blade screwdriver or knife blade to carefully remove cover. There is a screw that holds handle on cartridge. Remove screw and gently remove handle by pulling up. If you have not shut off water supply valves this will open valve and run water. Push down on carteidge stem to shut off water. Use a penetrating oil such as WD-40 and spray around cartridge.Allow a few mins. then pull cartridge stem up and push it back down several times spraying with penetrating fluid several times. You can move stem by gripping with pliers. This should help free cartridge . If this helps you can save on service call. Reinstall handle with screw and center cover. Hope this helps. Thanks

Turn the water off at the shut under the sink and open both faucets to drain line. Remove faucet handle and stem and look inside. There's probably something jamming the stem from turning. Remove that and reassemble.

Handles are completely stuck. I'm thinking due to Calcium build up. Can't move then at all.

remove the chrome covers from the handle and loosen the nut that pushes the seal around the stem to keep it from leaking. Then try turning the handles. if they still don't turn, take the nut all the way out and remove the stem from the faucet. This will allow you to wire brush all of the corrosion off the faucets. Use a good plumbers grease and put it on the stems before replacing them. do not overtighten brass nut.
