Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have a Palm T5 which locked up. I have tried all variations of resets and have come to one set that brings me to a screen that has the target on it for the digitizer to center but will not work. If I do a soft reset at this point I get the Palmone screen with a line blinking at the top. This same line blinks regardless of either of the two screen I am able to see. Reading online posts hints at the digitizer having gone bad but I don't know this.

Advice was straightforward and most appreciated. I will attempt to locate a local electronics repair shop that can replace the digitizer pad per instructions.

yes, its true that the digitizer has gone bad. This is why the palm is giving you problem. You need to replace the digitizer of your palm in other to solve this problem.

Visit the you-tube video below, you and watch a video of how to replace a palm digitizer. This will help you to know what palm digitizer looks like.

But if you cannot do this yourself, maybe you should visit the nearest repair man to fix it for you.

The replacement seems straightforward; however, I think I would rather get someone who is an expert on repairing these things to do the work. Do you know someone and do you have a rough estimate as to the cost? I have a backup of most of my data. Will lose the last 3 months but the backup contains over 10 years worth of info from earlier versions of Palm systems.

actually we don't stay in the same vicinity, so I wouldn't know precisely where you can repair it, but if you take it to a phone repair shop, it should be fixed there for you or they can direct you to an expert if they can fix it.

As for the cost, it varies, but it should be less the $80

    Take care.

Palm tungsten t5 won't boot past the Palm Powered

When you see the first screen (the orange one) hold the UP button as the bar moves across the bottom of the screen. Let go right before the screen goes to the silver logo. If it continues and opens Prefs, then you need to delete the program causing it to reboot. If that doesn't work, do a Hard Reset. A Hard Reset will erase everything on your T5, so only do it if you have to. Hold the Power Button while you push the reset button. Continue with the instructions to finish erasing your device.

T5 is frozen on the "Palm Powered" screen

Remove the battery and let the palm sit for a day, reconnect the battery and do a hard reset. To remove the battery, you need a Torx T5 screwdriver. Carefully remove the cover making a note of the location of all the buttons in the case. The battery is connected by a mini 2 pin connector, just disconnect the battery by gently wiggling the connector and pulling.

I have a Palm TX. 3Years old. 6 Months ago had to calibrate Touchscreen every day. 2 months ago had to calibrate touch screen 2/3 times a day. Recently can't calibrate touch screen. Targets go into loop...

Same happened to my 3 month old TX. I just recharged it, and all was OK! Sounds strange at first, but in my hometown, it is very humid, so maybe it got some moist inside and that caused some variations in the power or battery or voltage... dunno, maybe you need some cleaning, or try to calibrate while plugged.

    Hope to be useful!

    Palm Tungsten t5 WiFi

I suspect that you're in fact holding a Palm TX and not a T5 as the T5 does not have WiFi. If you're using the Palm SD WiFi adaptor, do a hard reset without the card.

(hold down the ON/OFF button whilst using the reset pin to press the reset button. You'll be asked if you are sure you wish to reset. You'll then be prompted to choose the language caliberate the screen etc..)

After that. Go and download all the updates and drivers from Palm Web site.
