It could be freon but if it is it has developed a leak somewhere. Chances are, it just needs a good cleaning. Unless you are in an area where service is unreasonably high, it would be worth having a tech check it out.

Why dose air blowing out dash hot when in cold a/c position

Hello, There are a number of reasons that may cause your A/C to blow hot air. The compressor belt could be loose or broken, the A/C system could be low on freon, the A/C compressor clutch could be defective or the fuse could be blown, or the A/C mixing door could be stuck open just to name a few.

I have an s-type and it only blows hot air not cold but compressor and ereything else is working?

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. It sounds like you may need to add freon to the unit. Your A/C line should have a service port on it, looks like a bicycle tire valve, just bigger. The pipes are aluminum, so they are easy to pin point. You can buy the freon at Autozone, Advanced, or even Walmart. You may have a leak causing the freon to leak, but since it is 11 years old, it may just need filled.

My jayco is 9 years old. now the a/c blows mostly hot. is it empty ? Can it be recharged.

Could possibly be a low charge. Make sure all the fans are running. There should be one for the condenser and evaporator. Also see if you can tell whether or not the compressor is running. If the compressor is not running then it could be the capacitor for the compressor. If everything is running then you could get the refrigerant charge checked. I would get an estimate for this then price a new unit to see which is cheaper.

1999 Chevy Cavalier A/C blows hot air

More likely the recharge blew a o-ring and you have a leak. When your Cavalier was blowing hot air and a recharge fixed it that means it was low on freon which lets o-rings dry out, go back to the shop and have them leak test it. They use a pressurized dye to find the problem. If it's blowing it's not the cooling fan relay, they may have meant compressor relay but I'd have a leak test done first it's not expensive and easier that chasing unknown possibilities.

Hi there. When a compressor is replaced, two things are in fact being replaced - both the compressor and the refrigerant (Freon) and if the problem is resolved as a result which of those two replaced elements caused the original problem? Well you will never know and so before the compressor is replaced you need to have you’re A/C system recharged – it’s by far the most cost effective initial thing to do. In general A/C systems loose at least 10% of their effectiveness each year through loss of refrigerant and so given the age of your car; it’s the first thing to focus on. A professional A/C centre will also be able to tell you whether your compressor is working properly after having a refrigerant recharge by the monitoring the operating pressures in the A/C system.

Not blowing cold air, do u recharge this unit?

only after you find a leak. first u have to make sure if the compressor is running at all. condenser side spinning. if compressor is not working it will blow hot air if the condenser is dirty or blocked but then u would get a minute or two of cold air then hot. you have to determine its empty or what else might be the cause before you start dumping in freon.

Ac clutch

sounds like the system is either low or out of refrigerant. There is a low pressure switch in the system to shut it down in the event of freon loss. First , verify , then test for a freon leak. Once repaired, and recharged, will blow cold air again.

Freezer not freezing and burning smell

it may be the compressor overheating it could be the relay but if the compressor is hot then you are low on freon and need to have it recharged
