First of all you must select the source of the sound for the ZONE2: press the ZONE2 ON/OFF button on the receiver; press the  Zone Control button the ZONE2 indicator is flashing; while it flashes rotate the INPUT knob to select the desired source.
To adjust the volume level of Zone 2, go to OPTION MENU -D)MULTI ZONE and set ZONE2 AMP to INT (from internal, if you are using the internal amplifiers) and then rotate the Volume knob.

Look in the speaker setup menu. The zone 2 speakers usually default to surround back, and you must go into the setup menu and tell it you want to use zone 2.

I am trying to get audio to play through zone 2. I have a CD player connected to AV 5 input on the receiver. When I switch to zone two, I am able to select a source, AV 5, when I attempt to turn the volume...

* Get to the receiver setup menu by pressing the "On Screen" button on the receiver's remote control. * Navigate the menu to "Setup". * Then scroll horizontally to "Multi Zone". * Select "Zone2 Set".
** If the menu items are grayed out here (if not skip below) ** * Go back to the horizontal menu (where you selected "Multi Zone" * Scroll to the "Speakers" option * Make sure the "Power Amp Assign" setting is correct (allowing for multi-zone).
*** In Zone2 Set *** * Change the range, default volume, and increments as desired.
I hope this helps! Mike

Yamaha rx-v1600. I am failing in my attempt to get sund out of zone 2 speakers. I have the 2nd zone speakers hooked into surround zone 2/3. In primary zone I only have center and surround back as my fronts...

After 6.5 hours, I am now listening to music outside on my patio using my rxv-1600!
Connect your speakers to the Presence Zone 2(3) output on back. Then power up amp and select zone 2 on front of amp. Nothing will happen, because as I found out, you must route an input to zone 2 or 3. Which is cool, because you can listen to something outside that is different from your inside.
You select what to route to the zone by pressing Zone Control button, just right of zone 2 and 3 button. While you see red zone light blinking, rotate input select knob to prefered input, i.e. radio/cd/aux/etc... also, you can adjust volume by pressing zone control and turning up the volume knob, only while ZONE light is blinking.
hope that helps, i know i was frustrated figuring that out!

I have a Yamaha RX V665 and I am unable to change the volume

The volume keys should be working by default, but you may have volume punch through turned on (meaning the remote is sending signals for TV or CABLE volume function no matter what mode you are actually on). To unlock volume control for AUX mode, do the following:
1. Press and release AUX
2. Press and hold SETUP until the remote blinks twice
3. Type 993
4. Press and release VOL-
The remote should blink four times to confirm unlock.

Denon AVR 1609 volume Zone 2

Logitech recommends that zone 2 is controlled using device mode on your Harmony remote. Controlling zone 1 and zone 2 simultaneously within activities may lead to the AV Receiver turning on and off unexpectedly as you switch between activities. For example, if you try to turn on zone 2 within an activity, it may turn on or off zone 1 and vice versa. Controlling zone 2 in device mode will prevent this from happening.

must be the right speaker wire, sounds to easy I know but maybe your wiring is grounding out the audio to that channel.

Denon AVR-3805 zone 2 no longer working

time to reset the microprocessor. See page 87 in manual.
1) switch off the unit using the main unit's power operation (small power button)
2) hold the PURE DIRECT button and DIRECT button at same time and turn the main unit's power operation on.
3) wait for entire display to flash in 1 second intervals

now the speakers need to be set up again but zone 2 will be working. i suspect a power surge causes the microprocesser to be corrupted. i put a power surge protector and have not had problems (lately).

Yamaha RX-V663 Multi-zone question.

i just got the same receiver like few days ago im still leaning it too,it is a very nice receiver though. here is some settings to help you.
check this to make sure zone 2 is showing in the menu,
on remote
menu, basic setup, speaker set, extra should show zone 2 it might show zone b...presence...or none needs set on zone 2 hit the left a-e/cat button it is weird the right doesnt circle all around? i had to call crutchfield tech for that one(GREAT COMPANY!)so that is for the setting to make sure zone 2 is set up now some to adjust the volume.
menu, manual, options, zone 2 set. here you can set 2 features
max volume( the loudest it will play) inti vol(the volume that it will play at when it is turned on) the yamaha has alot of quirks to it but has a very nice sound. for second zone features and a easier receiver to set up i have onkyo and they are very easy to set up zone 2 olume and everything on the front panel. hope you dont have to try to program a universal remote to work it seems yamaha uses discrete codes that are impossible to find i tried one universal and can only get very basic features to work.
hope this helps you out,
jeff

Outdoor speaker hook-up

Go into the manual setup on the GUI then go to the zone 2 and zone 3 setup. If you are using only the power from the receiver to power the speakers, make sure the setting is for Zone 3 amp "INT" if you still have no volume, on the front of the receiver look at the display, make sure "zone 3" is lit up then use the small remote and turn up the vol. if it's on you will see "zone 3 vol" and the bar going up it should be ok. if it says "fixed" it thinks you have an external volume control, if you do, make sure it's "on" at about 12 o'clock and test. If not, you need to switch it in the on screen "menu" or "GUI" button, follow to zone 2 & 3 vol control and make sure it is set to variable. If you still have no vol post a comment and we can dig further. Hope this helps
