We have a 8825 with the scanner and the scanner display is always reading "NOT READY" I do not see the lamp turn on when we power the scanner. At first the scanner would copy somethign but the page would be black instaed of the text or lines from our maps. Any thoughts? We have followed the instructions from the manual but they eventually sya contaact a repair person. Any sugeestions in the Billings Montana area? Thanks.

The printer is either performing a reset, a copy quality adjustment, or is just warming up. Any of these procedures can last for at least three minutes.

Sounds like a fuser lamp has gone bad.

Copier has and "L" and blinks back forth between

Hi this error may happen due to problem on the scanner unit. Please check the following;
  • Turn it off the on if it doesn't clear then
  • Check the scanner lock above paper exit tray and unlock it then off and on
  • Check that the copy lamp is lighting ,if not check the lamp cable and lamp itself and replace.
  • Check the scanner motor and the rail then pulleys and adjust.
Be careful while handling brittle glass.

I have a Xerox 7356 Scanner which continually says: Not Ready on the display. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this problem or where to go on-line to research troubleshooting?

it is likely the lamp.
Easy fix.
Buy a new lamp at a good lamp supply store. Type F32T8 SPX41
Make sure the back plate is white and re-normalize the cameras.

If you get the "NOT READY" message only after you insert an original
then the problem is likely the motion sensor.

My Canon copy NP 6035 if in turn it does not want to live. sound briefly returned to off himself. how the solution. thanks.

The copier comes ON then it turns it's self Off , Correct? Turn the copier back ON and hold the Main power switch ON and the display will show a error code. Read it and let the copier turn Off. You most likely have a dead AC short. The error code maybe a E0202 or E000 . One of the lamps are blown or broken and shorting out. You probly have a blown scanning Lamp or fuse. You may also, have a shorted out Scanner Power Cable. It's black and powers the scanner lamp > sometimes the cable crack's and exposes the AC wire. That is a fun job. It may just be a blown fuser lamp.. Good Luck

My printer still prints, but make noise when the scanner lamp warms up. After that, the screen says, "Scanner Error 5". What's the problem?

Hi tatnle,

This is due to a hardware failure, the scanner assembly and the formatter board will need to be replaced.

Try doing a hard or reset or nvram:
1. Turn the printer off
2. Hold down the enter and the * button
3. Reboot the printer while holding the buttons and hold until permanent storage is displayed. Let go of the buttons and wait for the ready message on the display.

if this does not work contact hp 1800-334-5144.

Exactly the same helpppppppppppppppp

When it was working correctly, did you see any lamp lighting-up the surface that is being scanned?
Now, do you see that lamp working as before?
If so, then getting an "all-black" scan means that the scanner is not detecting any "light" parts on the document being scanned.

Yes, it's time to take the printer to a recycling-station;
advertise the ink-cartridges and power-cord and power-adapter online, e.g., 'www.CraigsList.org' or a local "FreeCycle" mailing-list.

Sharp AL 1551cs reading L

I also have an AL-1551CS copier...normally the "L" has something to do with the scanner lock device underneath the left side of the top part (ie; the scanner) It's clear colored and round with protrusion to turn it from locked to unlocked...this is for moving the copier so the scanner (lamp and mirror assm) won't be disturbed. Use a flashlight or such to inspect the position of said device (ie; locked or unlocked) insure it is unlocked.....power back on and tell me if there is a number following the "L" Tim
