Question about Bissell Lift-Off(R) Revolution(R) Turbo Upright Vacuum

1 Answer

I have a bissell lift off and the brushes wont spin, i think it maybe because of the internal switch that tells the vacuum that the canister is installed is bad. is there a replacement part for that or do i have to get a new vacuum?

Hi,

If you take out the brush roll, holding the ends, make sure that it spins freely, if not, replace it. Belts stretch after a short time of use and need to be replaced often. So you could either have a bad brush roll and/or a stretched belt.

If you are sure that the internal switch is bad, the only way would be to contact Bissell :-

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Bissel 3760-4 brush motor doesn't turn on

Hi Tim. I understand the brush is turning & belt is fine. You may want to remove and reseat the canister. If this doesn't work, you'll want to have one of our Authorized Service Centers inspect your vacuum.

Tip

Bissell Bagless Upright Vacuum not working

If your Bissell upright vacuum cleaner is not cleaning like it did when it was new, then you need to provide a bit of maintenance or service. I will tell you how you can do this maintenance to your Bissell vacuum.

First, make sure that your floor vacuum is unplugged. Then you can work safely on your Bissell bagless vacuum.

If your Bissell upright vacuum is losing suction, then the next thing to check is the canister. It is very easy to simply forget to dump the canister.
The while you have the canister out, check the filter inside the canister to make sure that it is not plugged full of dirt. This filter can be difficult to access, but a little persistence will pay off. When you get the bottom of the cup open and remove the filter, use a bit of soapy water to wash out the filter. You can then reassemble the filter into the bottom of the canister.

On the left side of the vacuum there is also a HEPA filter Bissell has there to help filter the air even more. Remove that, clean it also and replace it.

The hose is the next thing to check. You can completely detach the hose from the vacuum. Check the hole at the bottom where the hose hooks up to make sure the hole is not plugged. Then stretch out the hose and run something like a coat hanger through it to make sure that there are no obstructions inside the hose. You should be able to hold the hose up to a light and see right through it.

The last thing to check is your Bissell vacuum belt. If the belt is too loose it will slip and not spin the brush properly. Bissell belts can be purchased online easily, or in many grocery stores. If your Bissell upright cleaner has a slipping belt, it may also be because of strings, carpet pieces, etc… getting wrapped around the brush. Remove the vacuum brush and cut off everything that is wrapped around it. Always be careful of the vacuum belt after you have just used your vacuum. The belt will be very hot just after use.

These steps will help you to get your Bissell upright vacuum cleaner working like new again.

Brush will not spin. filters are clean, no clogs, belt is fine. remove canister, it works fine plenty of suction.

Probably a good idea to remove the brush and clean as best you can. Add some WD40 at each end by the plastic clips and turn by hand until they move freely. Reassemble being sure the belt is on properly.

The power comes on but the brush doesn't. It has

If the belt is in good condition then your belt drive motor could have burned out the brushes in the motor itself something for a pro to do. but with an ohms meter you can rule out that the motor is bad if you test the power wires to the motor and there is no power feeding it , if power is there motor is bad if not go to on switch they some times brake inside.

The vacuum cleaning brush is not spending

Yes belt probably broken. Also the brush roller heats up on the ends, causing the plastic end cap nearest the belt to melt/weld to the end. It's supposed to spin freely. Also 2 bearings inside tend to become sticky, probably from heat. Next thing you know, the brush roller is seized and will not turn. Probably the whole reason the belt breaks. New belt & new brush roller, 30-35 bucks. It will happen again. Now you've spent almost half what it costs new. Lose the junk. 2 years for a cheap vacuum is the normal life span anyhow.

Bissell liftoff brush wont turn

Check the connections on the bottom of the lift off part, and the matching connector on the bottom section. If bad, take it to a warranty repair shop for Bissell. Other wise it could be the brush motor that is bad, or the switch is bad.
