Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I just bought a new Samsung 943n monitor. The monitor randomly blacks out for a second, and then comes back on. The Sony monitor I had connected to this PC didn't do this. One other Samsung monitor in the company also does this. It's a 740n. Both PC's have the Samsung drivers installed, and they both use NVidia video cards. Any Ideas?

Did you try to use this monitor in another pc? if its doing the same thing, you probably have a defective monitor.

Samsung Syncmaster 943n Black Screen when power is on want to know how and want is needed to fix

Here are the service manuals:
http://elektrotanya.com/?q=showresult&megnev=samsung&megnev2=943&kategoria=monitor&kat2=all

Please read below before DIY repair.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed SAMSUNG monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

My Samsung 943N LCD monitor will work for 1 second and then goes black. When I choose the extended desktop option, for example, it will flash my desktop on the monitor for a second and then go black. I...

becky_bitz, Do this first! It is only a "rude&crude" evaluation of the state of the monitor's "switch-mode-power-supply" Reconnect 943N to a fully booted KNOWN GOOD pc that has WIN-desktop showing. Then and only then, turn on the 943N and note what happens. After the screen goes BLACK, shine a bright flashlight at the lower left corner to try and see if the WIN-START button can be seen or other desktop icons are being displayed even though the LCD panel appears to be black! If you see a very faint image the SMPS is only in partial SHUTDOWN and is still powering the VGA/LCD interface board to display the images. If you see NOTHING, then SMPS is in full SHUTDOWN mode. In either case, your monitor's SMPS is trying to save itself from a catastrophic, nonrecoverable failure.(smoke, fire) Becky, fear not the those last two words. In fact your words "work for 1 second" means that the 943N is a good candidate for repair even if to keep as a working spare! To help in your decision making process you should pay a 30 minute visit to YOUTUBE and search out and view some of the longer video clips of "LCD monitor disassembly" , "LCD monitor repair" and also visit some websites you find here on fixya. www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm , www.lcdparts.net , www.badcaps.net are just a few that will point out what is causing your "cold-cahtode-fluorescent-lamps" to fail after 1 second. If you still need help then do a comment to your original post and I will try to help you. lmistyrel @ aim.cm or 12fix louie on fixya. If this was of some help please rate on fixya.

My monitor goes black for about 2 seconds then goes back to pict.

Sounds asif the Xenon tubes that backlight the LCD are losing power. Probable cause, a power invertor or PSU fault.
It can be repaired by a hardware specialist, but best written off.
The cost of repair will be better spent on a new monitor.

LCD Monitor blacks in and out for 1-2 seconds

does your monitor have an external transformer as the psu ?
If so, try disconnecting at mains for about 5 seconds and re-connect. failing that we'll need to dig deeper.

Samsung monitor randomly flashes black

> brand-new out-of-the-box

Presumably, it has a "warranty".

So, take it back to where you bought it, and demonstrate the problem to them, and make them repair/replace it, under warranty.

Samsung 940mw intermittent power...

I don't have a solution but would like to compare information as i just started looking into this problem myself. 1. I bought my Samsung 940mw in March, 2006 but didn't start having problems with it until around April, 2007 2. I'll be using it as my pc monitor when the screen goes black and the power light stays solid green. The monitor doesn't respond to the remote control. Nor can i manually turn it off via power button BUT i can restore it by a) turning power off at the UPS outlet it's plugged into b) removing the monitor cable from PC port c) restoring power and waiting for the Samsung diagnostic message about no monitor detected then d) plugging the cable back in. My monitor image reappears. 3. fyi I only use the analog monitor input. Samsung also released a new driver which hasn't made a difference. Within just last couple months the monitor will sometimes just go black a coupla seconds and come back on without any intervention

940mw - Compatibility

First thing i would check is your settings. See if windows is reconizing two monitors. If not then you will need to tell it to find it. Hook up your second monitor goto add new hardware and see if windows finds it. If it doesnt find it then i would go to manufactures site for your laptop and see if there are advanced drivers for that particular model of monitor. Also I would look at the manufacures site for advanced settings or technical information. This should solve your problem.
