I had success with the "Hi-Temp Wash - Normal - Hi-Temp Wash - Normal" sequence of button selections. This must occur within 6 seconds and initiates an internal diagnosis of the machine. The process runs for about 19 min. and shuts off. During the process several LED's light up and several funtions start and stop. If the machine has no broken systems, you should be able to open the door add some soap and the usual dirty dishes and carry on with normal operation. Thats all I have done and the wife is no longer on the war path. Good Luck

The fill valve is probably stuck in the full position. It's at the bottom of the tub and looks like a small tube with a cap on it. You should be able to move the cap up and down easily.

SOURCE: Danby dishwasher E3 error
Same issue here so I just got off the phone with Danby. They said the E3 means the water is not hot enough when it goes into the machine. Now I dont know your guys situation but I let the water run hot until I cant touch it anymore, then I turn on the machine and plug it in. So it sounds like the heating mechanism is not working properly and does not heat the water to the appropriate temp to continue with the cycle. I will say that their support was really friendly and she informed me that since it was purchased less than a year ago it would be covered under the warranty. She gave me the number of a local repair shop. Lets just hope they dont tell me nothing is wrong with it because my water temp is fine. I will let ya guys know. Here is the number for Danby that I called. General office: 419-425-5052. Good Luck!

There might be water in the overflow sensor. I unloaded the dishwasher and lifted the front so the dishwasher rested on its back. There's a narrow gray tube that runs down from the bottom right of the door. The tube runs into a white piece of plastic with some wires coming out of it. There is a rubber plug that covers a nipple on the plastic. Pull the rubber plug off. Mine was quite tight. Tip the dishwasher back onto its casters to drain the water from the overflow. Check to see if the dishwasher functions normally, then put the rubber plug back on.
