The drive need minor cleaning after cleaning it if it still doesn't work then its the read/write head that isn't work meaning you need a new drive unless you find a specialist to open it & fix the read/write head.

Access the Internet from another computer that has a CD burner installed. If you have other user accounts on the main computer, you can attempt to log in to those accounts just to get to the Internet.
    • 2

Download Ophcrack, a highly rated free password cracker for Windows. The website has been included in the References section at the end of this article. For easy access, download the file to the computer's Desktop. You will be downloading the ISO image of the program which can be burned onto a blank CD-R.
    • 3

Insert the blank CD-R CD. Select the ISO image of Ophcrack that you just downloaded, and right click on the item. Select 'Burn' from the drop down menu. If a burn program opens, click Burn Disc to burn the program to the CD-R.
    • 4

Remove the burned disc, and go back to the original computer that you are locked out of. Turn on the computer, and immediately insert the disc into the CD-ROM drive.
This will allow the computer to boot from the CD-ROM. You may be prompted in DOS to boot from the CD-ROM, select "Yes."
    • 5

Allow Ophcrack to run; it will run automatically and display the administrator and user password on the screen as it recovers them. Write down the passwords, and wait for the program to finish.
    • 6

Remove the burned disc, and restart the computer. Allow the computer to load to the sign in screen, and enter the newly recovered password. You should have full access to your Administrator account once again.

Error Message 'F:\ setup.exe is not a valid win32 application'

This issue can be caused by any of the below possibilities.
  1. File is corrupt, bad, or missing.
  2. File is not designed for your version of Windows.
  3. File is a virus, worm, or other malware file.
  4. Hardware incompatibility.
Answer: File is corrupt, bad, or missing
If the file or program you're attempting to run is corrupt or missing, Windows will be unable to execute the file properly and sometimes generate this error message.
Download files
If you downloaded this file and verified it is complete and compatible with your version of Windows, delete the file and try downloading and running it again. It's possible during the download that the file became corrupted.
Finally, if the second download does not work, try downloading the file from a different webpage. It is possible that the person or company maintaining the website mistakenly uploaded a corrupt version of the file you're attempting download.
Installing a program from a CD or other disk
If you're attempting to install a program and are getting this error, verify that the CD is clean. If the CD is dirty or bad, you could get this error during the install and/or get this error after the program has been installed because it was not copied properly onto the computer.
  • Additional information about cleaning a CD can be found on our cleaning page.
Running a program from the computer
If you're running the program from a shortcut on the computer, verify that the program is still on the computer. In some cases if the program is no longer installed on the computer you may get this error.
If the hard disk drive is corrupted or bad it can also cause working programs to fail either because not all the data can be read from the hard disk drive or because the program has become corrupted while on the drive. Run scandisk and defrag on the hard disk drive to check for any potential errors.
Long file name issue
Make sure the program or file you're attempting to run does not contain the same name as the long file name directory it is contained in. For example, executing a file named "program" in the "program files" directory can cause errors in some versions of Windows.
Additionally, if you're attempting to install a program and after the install the program does not work, you may also want to try installing the program in a different directory.
Bad file
Any file can be changed or renamed to be a .exe file. If you're downloading the file, make sure the file is supposed to be a .exe file and that it's not being changed. If you're attempting to create a .exe, file make sure you're compiling the file for Windows and never just rename a file to a .exe file. For example, renaming a .bat file to a .exe file will not make the file an executable file. For a file to become an executable file it needs to either be compiled or converted through a software program designed to convert the file.
File is not designed for your version of Windows
If you're trying to run a program that is not designed for your version of Windows you may get this error. Although many older programs designed to work in older versions of Windows will work with new versions of Windows, unfortunately, not all programs will work.
  • If the program is an older MS-DOS program or early Windows program you may get this error.
  • If the program is designed for a 64-bit version of Windows and you're running it in a 32-bit version of Windows, it will not work and generate this error.

My cd/dvd combo driver will no longer burn discs

Instead of looking for repair programs, try looking for drivers for that specific cd/dvd drive. It may simply need a new driver.

I have an e-machines with a dvd/cd-rom in one that will not work.

i understand that your pc has a single dvd-drive that has the problem that it dos read dvds but not cds...
please give model because this is a rare error.
to check it, get the following disks and the freeware program 'burnatonce' (it is a burning software that accesses the drives on a lower than windows basis )
to check from the hardware side what the problem is:

install burnatonce
run it
open tools/device info
and check if the following disc are really recognized or not

a standard music cd(audio cd)
a computer cd(original ! windows install cd or other install cd)
a self burnt cd containing mp3's (CD-R type, 700MB or800MB)
any other computer cd for pc

an original film dvd
a selfburnt film dvd (DVD-R)
an original computer-data dvd (any PC-Game will do)

if only dvd's work, strange!

get a new drive then.

What my mother always said was Ghosts? More than likely your problem? Should be the disk that came with the Lite-on was a 16 bit app.The pc in the registry is more than likely set to 32 bit app. Easy is to make yourself a copy of the download from lite on for the updated driver. If you deleted go back to them and download another. Copy it to disk, put in the cd,or dvd rom to check thats what you have!
Now that you have it, go to control panel remove the disk you first installed that came with your lite on!
Also remove it from the trash container on your homepage. Shutdown and restart PC. Now see what
Did? If the errors gone If the litedoes everything it is programed to? Your the man! If not, then we go back to control panel and remove the other driver you downloaded from liteon? Go to the homepage and take out the trash.Shutdown and reboot? Then after she restarts and all the startup programs are loaded? We install the one you have on the disk.Open the control panel, set up to install program?
Put in the disk with the program liteons Driver disk. After the liteon drivers installed. Go to the shutdown
and restart PC. After windows loaded all is idle, then you test the liteon drive. No errors ,is the thing
we are searching for.OK shoot me an email to say you're the man !You fixed it? Good luck!

Please insert a disk into drive

You can only copy files to a blank disk by using programs like NERO or by using a re-writeable disk like DVD-RW which you can format and use it like a hard drive. You need also burner not an ordinary DVD or CD player.

My cd-rom drive is not working on my computer. I have gone into properties on my computer and it has a warning sign under the dvd/cd rom drive. How do I fix it?

Use control panel - add/remove program and uninstall any programs for the DVD player. Next use control panel - system - hardware - devices and uninstall the DVD player. Leave the device connected. Reboot and when system detects the player load only the driver for Ur os. See if this fixes the problem. If still not work, sounds like time to replace. DVD writers do not have but a coupla' hundred writes and the laser burns out. Designed that way.
