Since you did not mention what camera, reflector ISO,etc, etc. It would be pure speculation on giving advice, other than to call Quantum Tech Support and talk to them. They will find our what you were using and give you recommendations (631) 656-7400

Use a Telephoto reflector, it will give you two extra stops of light at that distance. Part # QF63B

My canon 580 EX II stops firing even with new batteries

You must disable the 580EX II form using the 4AA.

4AA must be needed when using hv power pack.

Just let the 4AA use & display the LCD panel.

What setting do I use for my Cannon Powershot SX 200 when I am shooting in an arena or concert hall - it will be reasonable well lit

Turn off the flash. Set the ISO for at least 800. If you have shake reduction, use it. If not, can you use a monopod or tripod?

I would just like to find out how to set aperture when shooting in manual mode

The REBEL is Either aperture or shutter priority.

You can set this up via the menu

There is a rule of thumb and it also depends on the ISO ( ASA or film speed) iF IN LOW LIGHT USE A HIGHER ISO say 200-1000

and an aperture set from ap ring on lens a good all round setting is F8

the rule for Apertures is smaller the number larger the aperture ( lets more light in, but in high iso settings you really dont need to change this unless its really dark,

Larger the number smaller the aperture used for very bright light conditions, where over exposure is likely to occur ( even in flash )

Flash automatically uses F8 but this is not always ideal as when shooting in some lights at a white object ( wedding) the pic will be overexposed , sometimes its better to use F11 with a flash and an ISO of 100. Perhaps you need to get an easy photo guide book Digital Photogreaphy for Dummies ( no insult intended) It has a lot of these little tips in it and will improve your pics beyond "Happy Snaps"

Changing the exposure is to use the aperture ring on the lense most are from F2-F22 depending on the focal length of the lens say 50 mm 150mm - 200mm for each size lens one would increase the F stop by 1 or add and EV point (+01) to compensate for the length.

Hope that is helpful for you

I tried to shoot a subject on the horse and if the subject was in focus, the horse was out of focus or vice versa. How do I keep them both in focus?

if you can handle the manual mode try increasing the shutter speed by one 2 two steps and if possible increase the ISO too by a step or two

happy clicking

Canon 400D, Auto setting, images too dark

Automatic settings are not useful in all conditions. The built in flash is not good over 20 ft. Under low light conditions, an external flash is better option, but it costs additional too. Remember that shooting under low light conditions is always a difficult task. By the way, I don't know about such common problem in Canon XTi

Quantum Turbo Battery pack not enough power.

Load 4AA with Energizer Lithium Batteries.
Set 580EX II's function to 12-0 and 05-0.
Make sure 5D's is not set to HSS.
No white dome parked on flash.
No bounce.
Set camera to "M" with max sync if you like, but 60 is fine.
Set F-Stop no greater than F5.6
Set ASA/ISO no lower than 200 but not over 1000.

If you need more assistance, contact Alzo Digital, CT, USA.
Asks for service & repair from ATG.

Focusing Still Photos with SD870 IS

If you check page 45 in the manual, you'll see that the orange light during the half press indicates that the flash is turned on. A single beep means that the camera is having difficulty getting a "focus lock" (usually when shooting in low light conditions). See page 100 of the manual for suggestions on how to improve the chances for getting a well-focused picture.
