Your phone is probably cooked ... salt water is highly corrosive. Your service provider may be able to clean it ... but it is probably damaged beyond economical repair. The sooner you get your phone into the professionals, the better your chances of recovery. Be prepared to replace it.

If your cell phone gets into water...

Two differents situations can occur when you drop your cell phone in water: depends if it is salt water (beach) or fresh water (rain, etc). I use to repair cell phones for 6 years, and this is my best recommendation.
If the phone gets into fresh water, just remove the battery immediately, because the battery normally creates a short circuit inside the phone, then try without battery and if you can remove part of the housing, do it and put a small fan or a hair blower ( not too hot) aside the phone at least for 15 minutes continue, moving around constantly. This has to be done immediately, because the minerals in some types of water can cause bridges between the IC (integrated circuits), and cause malfunctions.
If the phone gets into salt water, and this include if you drop it into the toilet while urinating (remember, the urine if full in chemicals, most of them are salts), although it sounds crazy, just immediately remove the battery, and give a fresh water wash, I mean, try to wash all the salt from the phone, and then start doing the process to dry it as described before.
Two tips more: It is probably that your battery will damage permanently, and nothing can be done. And, this not guarantee that the phone will work, because it depends on how long it was soaked. In a next opportunity, I can give you a little higher difficult level to do in order to completely recover your phone from future problems due to water damage.

I dropped my samsung in my sink and i picked it up and took out the battery and let it dry and about 30 mins after i put the battery back in and up comes a blank white screen and it keeps vibrating how can...

Once a phone has been water damaged it will never work properly again. Water - even fresh water - contains salt. And, salt is an excellent conductor of electricity. When the water evaporates, salt deposits still remain. This causes the phone's electronics to short circuit causing a variety of problems.

The cost to repair the phone will far outweigh the cost to replace it. Repairing it does not mean that it will continue to work properly.

My advice is to sell the phone on eBay for parts. Let the buyer know it has suffered water damage. And, replace it with a new phone. You'll be much happier in the long run.

The problem you are having is a common one. All water - even fresh water - contains salt. Salt is an excellent conductor of electricity. Once water comes into contact with the circuit board in your phone, and then dried, salt deposits remain.

The salt (even in minute quantities) begins to move around on your circuit board short circuiting anything it comes into contact with.

Even having your phone professionally cleaned and repaired does not mean that it will remain in good working order for long. You'll just be chasing good money after bad in the long run.

If you carry insurance on your phone with your service provider, I'd make a claim. If not, you should contact your service provider and make arrangements to purchase a new phone. You'll be much happier in the long run.

Dropped phone into water

You can try to disassemble the front cover and clean the joystick.

The ultimate solution is to replace the joystick yourself or at a repair store, since samsung probably wont accept the phone for warranty effects

Good luck

I got it wet!!

The first thing is to know if the phone dropped in salted or fresh water. If was in salted water, forget it, you let it pass so much time, but if was fresh water, try to open the phone ( get a Torx 6 or 8 screwdriver in home depot) and use pure alcohol with and old toothbrush and clean the mineral deposited on the circuits, gentle brush it and let it dry, then reasemble the phone a it will work perfect

Salt water, chlorinated water or just fresh water. If it was fresh water there maybe some water vapour still inside just remove your battery and put it in the oven with door open on about 100c for about 5-10 mins but make sure you keep an eye on it. All you want to do is get rid of the water not cook the chipboard or if you are paitent stick it in the sun battery out and back off for a couple of hours if it was the other 2 waters your phone is propably lost the chlorine and salt eat the chipboards and they tend to short out the fix will only work if you got the battery out after it got wet but it sounds like you never and the lights and whatnot is your phone shorting

My phone in salt water.

To anyone who drops their phone in salt water. Get the battery out immediately. When you get home or sooner if you can put the phone in something that will allow fresh water to immerse it entirely. Keep water running in the container for about 3 days continually flushing the phone. Now take all of the water out and fill the container with 99% Isopropyl Alcohol. Let the phone dry out for at least 2-weeks before trying a fully charged battery in it and turn it on. Should work and you have just saved yourself buying a new one. Then don't leave it in your pocket when you go to the beach, drop it in a Ferry Salt Water Toilet, etc., where it it is immersed in salt water. If it is most cell phone providers will refuse to even look at it from their tech depts. A Radio Tech/Inspector in Canada.
