Question about Dell Dimension 2400 PC Desktop
I need to upgrade my usb port 1.1 to 2.0
The easiest way for you to do this is to get a USB 2.0 pci card and install it into the computer. Here is one that is available for $10
These are fairly easy to install. It does require you to open the computer case. Remember to unplug the computer from the electricity before starting and properly ground yourself before touching any components in the case(static electricity can damage them). You should use a grounding strap that hooks to your wrist and attatches to the case or touch the case each time before touching any components. Once the case is open you will need to locate an empty PCI slot. Then use a screwdriver to remove the metal "Blank" that is covering the opening at the back of the computer. Then you can insert the new card with the USB ports facing the back of the computer and use firm but gentle pressure to insert the card into the port. Once the card is fully seated secure it with the screw you removed from the blank. Then plug the computer back in and run any installation software that came with the card if required and that is it.

It would be a good idea to as because of most devices being USB 2 you will get a message saying "this device can perform faster" each time you plug a USB2 device into the computer.
What you need to do is go to Dell's support website (link below) and download the latest bios update and chipset driver for your computer.
Make sure you follow the instructions for the bios update carefully. After its done you should have the USB2 upgrade.
